Using Touch Up Paint

Hi bros,

I got some scratches on my front bumper and I had applied some touch up paint I got from my dealer.

So far it looks OK, but if looked upon an angle where the light will reflect, then the portion where the touch up paint has been applied would become quite outstanding because it doesn't shine. [:/]

My question is how to make that portion glossy again?

Should I be applying some clear coat or sealant or wax or something on top of the touch up paint? [:|]

Your advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

Does it mean that if I sprayed a few layers of clear coat over the touch up paint should do the job?

Is clear coat universal? Where can I normally get it?

Thx.

No. You wil have to make sure that the touched-up part is level with the rest of the car 1st and you will probably have to spray the clear coat to the whole panel/section. Not an easy job.

Argh... thats bad news...

I can't spray clear coat over the whole section because there is an layer of paint protection sealant over it...

Are there any freelance that I can engage to touch up the area? [blush]

Sigh... that means I will have to live with it already... 1 month old new car... heart pain... argh... [bigcry]

if it really bothers you that much, can try getting those clear coats that come in bottles...

so you can use a brush to apply (spray types would be very difficult to control for small areas)...

apply several coats til it's slightly higher than the current (paint + sealant) layer...

get really fine sandpaper (preferably those used by hobbyists, and not from hardware store) to sand it even, taking care NOT to sand the parts with original paint and seallant...

then after that, you can get some polishing compound (or cut and polish type wax) to make the clear coat regain it's shine...

it's a bit difficult and troublesome, but if it really bothers you that much, i guess it will be worth it...
