I have drive the new Saab 93 which I borrow from my friend, good handling but not as good as Mondeo. I will try the vectra on this coming weekend and let you know the performance of the car. Many small changes can contribute to an entirely different experience - like using conventional hydraulic power steering rather than the Vectra's electronic system; and a typically Saab interior. A basic chassis does not two similar cars make - like a Seat Leon 1.4 and Audi TT 3.2 for example... Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Was at Leng Kee, they quite stuck up. probably because they are probably ex - saab or rover sales staff, used to serving businessmen wearing long sleeve and older age. but still, i was fluff so never walked in that leng kee showroom again. Ahem....Acherlee...the last time I went there..I tested the Vectra but disappointing performance....feels sluggish...and well, I did give them a thing or 2 abt the level of service rendered discriminatley to my frens....as I was told....and well...I might just go down and tickle them again... Opel Vectra GTS($120K) and Saab 93 ($140K ). 5 person in the car (Full Load), 2 potential buyer. Sharing the same platform developed by GM. This will cut down the R&D cost and also able to share component and therfore drive the manufacturing cost down. After a group discussion , below are the summary of our discussion . ( Base on 5 person opionion only so that you won't get thing wrong ) 1) Engine : Opel engine is refine but the response time is slow. Saab is better response because it is turbo charge. 5 person in the car did not cause any problem. 2) Handling : both car have a similar handling feeling. when it come to high speed , 130Km/Hrs, Saab are slightly better. 3) Comford : Both are similar and Opel are better in term of leg room. 4) Noise : Both car are better in sound insulation , Opel seem to be more quiet when in high speed. 5) Feature and Spec: Are quite similar , Traction control, ESP+ , ABS Etc. 6) OMV:Opel is 29.5K as Saab 93 is 27K. Re-sell value is the same(Feedback from market) 7) Saab is better looking, opel look is new in the market. 8) German car is usually cost less in maintainance than Swedish car. 9) Workmanship : Saab is slightly better than opel. OPEL improve alot. 10) Both manufacturing from the same factory in Germany. 10) Overall : Saab is still a better car but OPel is close to it. Very surprisely opel vectra is a totally different car form the past. The price are 20K different between this 2 car. In Asia content , the Saab brand is better than opel. In Europe , VW, Renault , Citoren, Saab , Pageous are the same class. Benz, Volve, Audi , BMW are the same class. Example VW are price as the same as Audi , Reason are the maketing strategy of brand image over at Asia. European will be smiling at you if you told them that VW is the same class as Audi. ( FYI, I been staying in Europe for some few year) If the price is 20K different, it really depend on how to chose and very subjective. Hawk1234 Neutral Newbie July 2, 2003 Share July 2, 2003 Yes, sharp turning corner. Saab is better but opel has no issue . Best sharp turning corner is still the Ford Mondeo. The new Saab 95 will be a better car to look for with the new platform (Opel Sigma will be sharing). Saab 93 is a good car but it price at too very high due to the brand perception in Singapore. In Europe, Vectra and Saab are in the same price range. My opionion, Saab is a good car and if you have the extra money , please go for it (22K extra with the same feature ). If you do not want to pay a high price and want to have the similar driving feeling and feature, go for opel. Presently GM strategy are building new platform to share between the brand. This would cut down the developed time , cost and human resources. Important is the common part share between brand to lower down the price. In Europe , price , maintainance cost , servicing and support is not an issue to all the conti car therefore it sell well over there. I also do not drive a jap car in Europe. Especially in Singapore, conti car did not do so well because everyone is worry about servicing and support , the most important are the price range set up by the car dealer is too high. Therefore conti car did not do well as compare to Jap car. GM just bought over Opel and the new opel car in on the way to be launch into the market (New Astral, Sigma, vectra ). GM want to see the profit in the near future. Opel is a totally new company to look forward to. Opel do not have the brand image in Singapore due to the poor marketing efford . Not like VW which did very well in Singapore. VW Bora 1.6 can sell at 112K , can you imgaing this normal car can sell this price in Singapore. This car can be the same price range as Honda accord , Toyota camry, Renault Luguna , Pageous 307 etc.......
