Acemundo Supercharged July 2, 2003 Share July 2, 2003 precisely!...i noted long ago about this anomaly. the conti vs jap car argument aside, opel is even underrated as compared to contis like vw....definitely....if you compare the price and performance of the passat vs the vectra, vectra gives much better value for money.... likewise what you said about bora, easily S$25K more than astra, but with only a so-so performance. which is why i thought opel is underrated in singapore, especially after reading your comments about the european market standing of opel vs rest of contis, seems to confirm my belief. ↡ Advertisement

Seansene 1st Gear July 2, 2003 Share July 2, 2003 (edited) GM just bought over Opel and the new opel car in on the way to be launch into the market (New Astral, Sigma, vectra ). GM want to see the profit in the near future. Opel is a totally new company to look forward to. um... GM has owned Opel for yonks, since 1929 to be exact. Besides Saab and Opel, GM is generally known for its American brands - Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Pontiac, Chevrolet and Saturn. Holden in Australia, Vauxhall in the UK and Daewoo in Korea are also part of the GM empire. At the same time, it has a 49% stake in Isuzu and 20% each in Suzuki, Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru's parent) and even Fiat (can you imagine the profits from every Ferrari, Alfa and Maserati going to GM?) Which is why Saab's new volume-seller in the US will be a reskinned Impreza... so much for character Opel had been in the doldrums for the longest time, but since the mid-nineties they've started to show some real design flair, especially with the Zafira, and the new Meriva and Sigma. Excellent packaging to scare off competitors, if a little bland in styling execution in the case of the exec-wannabe Sigma.
