Actually, STS Daihatsu Terios is well configured/optioned - std equipment includes: alloy wheels, leather seats and immobiliser. Heard delivery is May. With weight of about 1200 kg, it is indeed a bit underpowered given the small 1.5 ltr engine that churns out just a little over 100 hp - particularly if it is in 4WD and with auto tranny. However it should be more than adequate for Spore use. If you drive it across the causeway, the protons and even the kelisas will make you feel slow!

the weight on paper specs is 1.7 tons. From the SE i spoke to he says around 1.5tons. Dunno will this car be the 2nd matrix...................

I reckon the 4WD with AT should give about 12km/L in Spore. Based on press release at the Geneva show, it is stated that the new Terios has the best fuel consumption among all SUVs, including diesels!

But the specs showed 8.5 km/litres... Wanted to get it but worried about the FC...

1170kg is way too heavy for a 1.5M car.

Anyway, even the 4WD is more of poser rather than a hard core 4WD.

Doubt it comes with a transfer case?

You have read the wrong spec - 1.7 tonne is the max laden weight, i.e. total weight including passengers, baggage, etc. The Terios is about 1.2 tonne.

For a real 4WD, with locking capability for the central differential, 1170 kg is not really heavy for a small SUV. Most of the mid-size SUV eg. CRV, X-Trail, Vitara, RAV4, etc weighs around 1500 kg. The Terios has full time 4WD, so is actually more capable than real time 4WD systems used by CRV, X-Trail, or the new RAV4 - in terms of off-roading. None of the above mentioned models are hard core 4WD anyway.

bro, think u mistaken. it indicated 8.5 ltr per 100km, which wks out to 11.76km/ltr.

anything abt 11km/ltr is good for 4wd suv. most suv clocking 8-9.5km/ltr for 2wd versions.

As 16" wheels are used (looks good on a SUV), size 215 is quite std, and the profile at 65 is not low at all. A good balance of form, function and economy actually.

TST don't have any demo unit yet, so there's no way to test drive. I have been searching the Internet to look for reviews but have not been successful. The Be-Go/Rush has been on sale in Japan for almost 2 months now, and there ought to be some written reviews. Anyone here know of any sites with reviews (not previews) of this new SUV?
