Clutched

Sry to barge in on this thread like this..

But is it normal for the first gear to be hard to engage when the car is moving slowly at say.. 10-15km/h?

Like something is blocking it until the speed goes down to way below 10, then the 1st can slot in...

or is this a sign..... [:/]

Clutched

Even if i rev match the rpm to the gear speed?

10+km/h shouldnt be fast for 1st gear...

read maybe it's a sign that the synchros are wearing out...

or you mean change to 5th gear at 50km/h. norm is 70km/h for me

Better Be.....80km/h and above.....More Save On FC..... [idea]

Wah ur friend is like "Kan Chiong Spider" leh.

Change so fast . . . he step permanent on the clutch & finish the gear change from 1st to 5th at one go issit? hehe j/k only pls don't mind [:p]

Anyway I change gear base on the Engine sound or Gear feel.

Once the Sound at that Gear level change to "harsh" I switch gear.

Or when I feel the Gear is pulling then I switch.

For me I note the rpm instead of the speed of the car.....try to maintain rpm between 2k and 3k. So depending on traffic condition, I may up-shift when rpm reach 3k if want to go faster, or up-shift when rpm exceed 2k it is rather smooth transition but not much power.

4th Gear
Hi guys

I have a friend, who has the habit of changing gear before the car reaches enough rpm. It will cause a slowdown in picking up speed in the next speed in the next gear. In fact, for every gear, he does the same thing. When he reaches only 50, he changes gear to the 5th.

Apart from increasing the FC, what will other impact be? A faster wearing out of cluth disc?

Any advice?

Once you are one with the car, there is no need to look at the speed or rpm to change gears. It becomes so natural like breathing.

I only look at the tacho when I want to change gears at redline. So far never reached redline in 5th gear even at 190+ [lipsrsealed]
