Saaber Neutral Newbie February 24, 2003 Share February 24, 2003 Post: Good to hear that Btw, is there a run-in period? Hear most of the conti cars are factory run-in does it applicable for our T4. Yes, usually for conti car, it is already run-in at the factory but it is always good to observe the run-in procedure for the first 1000km to be safe..... Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 24, 2003 Share February 24, 2003 You made an excellent choice, the T4 is the ultimate sleeper Volvo (second to the 850R of course) Best choice? S60R lah! But we all must be realistic right? (that's why I'm chucking around in a Ford now ) You'll have fun in your T4, guaranteed satisfaction
Soya Supersonic February 25, 2003 Share February 25, 2003 Excellent. I know another guy (not in MCF) that drives a black T4 too. Any indication from SM when u can start terrorising the streets? COE secured? Planning any mods or upgrades?
Dennis Neutral Newbie February 25, 2003 Author Share February 25, 2003 Terrorising the street??? U mean in M'sia? No lah I'm a slow and steady driver. Only ocasionally speed along the N-S Highway. RM50 is better than points deduction or possible court case. The pakage that I bought is based on immediate COE now only waiting for the colour that I wanted to arrive. Only have two things in mind: 1) Install CD changer as the original from Volvo would cost more than a thousand. 2) Maybe Change the stock tyre (Goodyear NCT5) to a better one. Had anyone tried using this tyre before? Any advice ???
Soya Supersonic February 25, 2003 Share February 25, 2003 Haha...wait till u get the car, we'll see if u remain a slow & steady driver. Unfortunately, no aftermarket CD changer is available to fit the S40. The OEM one is a 6-disc Alpine costing over $1k! I've tried contacting the SG alpine distributor to see if i could get hold of one but they dun even carry it as it's an OEM item. Let us know if u have better luck chasing down a cd changer. Planning any ICE upgrade? The stock NCT5 sucks. Noisy & poor wet grip. Go for a +1 upgrade to 17". Nast4 & myself have done it - worth the money. Come for the meetup & we'll explain more in detail. Dennis Neutral Newbie February 25, 2003 Author Share February 25, 2003 Interested, Tell me know more about it. Which RIMs and tyre are u using? Roughly how much? Can I trade in the stock tyre? Hope's it's not too expensive, not much cash left...
Soya Supersonic February 25, 2003 Share February 25, 2003 You'll be looking around $1500-$1600 incl trade-in. The OEM rims dun give the T4's looks enough justice, IMHO. Come to the meetup when u get the car lah, can chit chat more there.
Super7 Turbocharged February 25, 2003 Share February 25, 2003 Sorry Dennis, i juz gotta hijack our MCF Volvo guru from your thread for some info: Hiya TB, It's abit late to ask (car already sold), but how did the 94/5 Volvo 850 Turbo i had fit into the history of 850/S70???.... it's not a light turbo (hence 225hp), the engine is a 2.3L unit........ was it a stop-gap model before the 850R's arrival???.... just curious leh........ Many thanks and cheers
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 26, 2003 Share February 26, 2003 Hi Uncle 7, the 850 turbo was a HPT model with lower boost compared to the 850R. Both had the same turbo unit but the 850R had a 10sec overboost to get 240bhp peak. The timeline went like this: 850Turbo (225bhp) 850T-5R (240bhp) limited edition introduced from BTCC success 850R (240bhp) 850T-5 (same as turbo) S70T5 (225bhp) S70R (240/250bhp) S70 2.0T (180bhp)/2.4T (193bhp)

Dennis Neutral Newbie February 26, 2003 Author Share February 26, 2003 Would you be getting it? Just afraid of the compatibility, wat happen after buying can't install or lack of certain items/cables. Anyway, Just drop by at SM motors during lunch time, saw the S60 2.0T looks quite nice with immediate delivery. I'm contemplating whether to switch to S60 Is it worth the switch? price diff of only about 20K but with all the feature(eg. cruise control, Pirelli tyres, auto ACC and etc.. ) seems quite worth it except without the turbo engine. Offroader Neutral Newbie February 26, 2003 Share February 26, 2003 yummmmmmy................add the multi spoke rims from the T5.........wah..........
Soya Supersonic February 26, 2003 Share February 26, 2003 S60 2.0T is also turbo abeit a light pressure one. My T4 come wif cruise too. Tyres are easily upgradable. Actually, it depends on what u are after; the T4 is a sports sedan and is more punchy and nimble. The S60 is probably more refined and more of an executive luxury car (unless u get the T5). Quite different characteristics. Whether it's worth the switch depends on your driving priorities and of course, the $20k diff. I wanted to be a swedish beng so T4 was my choice. Good luck wif your decision!
