Was doing some Diy in my engine bay and discovered the (-ve) cable from my Raizin disconnected from the battery!! Quickly fixed it back. Got shocked a bit by the sparks that flew when I touch the cable to the (-ve) terminal of battery. Anyway, I think it must have been the time when the AA engineer changed my battery, and left the Raizin disconnected.

Did you do it when the engine is on ?? if yes, that maybe the case the sparks comes from. Anyway, if you can start your car and everything is working fine, should be ok. [thumbsup]

during this time when your raisin stabiliser was disconnected, did you notice the gear change less smooth or engine less eager to rev? if u didn't, it's high time you remove this raisin stabiliser to prevent further mishaps (or potential short circuit in future) [thumbsup]

raisin is best mixed with cereals not as volt stabiliser [sly]

yup the sparks are normal...

careful when u touch the live of the battery and accidentally contact the ground/body of the car with the other... will get a numbing sensation [laugh][laugh]

That's a close shave! By the way, are voltage stab really that effective? Had one z-stab installed for trial but so far don't find any decrease in FC. Will monitor for another week before I decide whether to return it for a refund.

Sparks are normal. I get it everytime I disconnect/reconnect the battery to do some DIY. You still get sparks even with the engine off. If it don't spark, it means the battery is dying or dead.

It depends on what order you disconnect the battery. The correct way is to remove the negative terminal from the battery first, then followed by positive. Reverse order when connecting back. Since the negative is the last to connect, the spark is there at the negative. Spark is just a surge in electricity when the load is connected, nothing to it.
