Scrambyjess Neutral Newbie May 2, 2006 Share May 2, 2006 Trying to get the previos layer of wax off my car as im trying out a new product. Read from the forum tat dishwashing agent like mamalemon can help to remove the wax. Anyone can verify on tat? Will it still harm the paint even if i apply a new layer of wax after shampooing with the mamalemon? ↡ Advertisement

Keithhiap 1st Gear May 2, 2006 Share May 2, 2006 just read with pleasure, correct me if i am wrong. just use car shampoo to wash off , can already. let me ask u lor, after washing, u go and touch the surface, u think u can still feel the wax? the answer is no. normal condition after waxing, u will feel slicky, but after shampoo, u will feel stiffness when u use ur finger to run through or touch the surface. go ahead and was with shampoo, if u still dont feel comfortable, wash again with shampoo. that why, i usually use plain water, so i wont wash away the wax. whenever i use shampoo, i will use hi-glaze. Although i have bought Jett but i have not try yet cause keep raining this few days. from Gen2, it is advisable to keep the jett prime on the car for 24hrs, kao, less then 24hrs, rain liao, and i park at open carpark. Gen2 did mention even not 24hrs, the prime jett already 80% on the car surface, but me bei song. lol

Dear Scrambyjess, If you read any forum, they would not recommend it. definitely a No-No. After washing and claying, I suggest you use a cleaner wax. Chogokin 1st Gear May 2, 2006 Share May 2, 2006 Use AIO or Zymol Wax Cleaner will do the job. AIO would be more easier.
Scrambyjess Neutral Newbie May 2, 2006 Author Share May 2, 2006 (edited) Juz found out that i have a Meguire's Clear Coat Body Scrub Plaint Cleaner in my closet. Anyone using this product? Is the autoglym paint renovator or paint cleaner a better choice in terms of preparing better bonding for waxing and polishing? Advisable to use autoglym paint renovator on the whole car before polishing? saw in their webpage they use it as their first stage on the whole car. Mzrmazda3 6th Gear May 2, 2006 Share May 2, 2006 I have not much knowledge on Autoglym products but i have jus browse through the Autoglym website for you Unless your paintwork's condition is real bad else i would not recommend you to use it For more details, you can log on to www.autoglym.com
Garlic 1st Gear May 2, 2006 Share May 2, 2006 (edited) Meguiar's Clear Coat Body Scrub is good enough. Avoid Autoglym's paint renovator, its very nasty stuff for nasty defects. Edited May 2, 2006 by Garlic
Gen2 Neutral Newbie May 2, 2006 Share May 2, 2006 Bro Scrambyjess - If your primary concern is to remove the previous wax or sealant coating than as mentioned by our fellow bros here, products like Meguiar DC Paint cleaner, Mother's Paint Cleaner, Klasse AIO or JW Prime will be a better choice . To side track a bit, from Gen2, it is advisable to keep the jett prime on the car for 24hrs, kao, less then 24hrs, rain liao, and i park at open carpark. Gen2 did mention even not 24hrs, the prime jett already 80% on the car surface, but me bei song. lol Bro Keithhiap - You are advised to leave Prime to cure for 30 mins not 24 hours, within 30 mins 80% of the acrylic polymer in Prime is cured. There is no need to wait 24 hours to top it with your favourate LSP .
Scrambyjess Neutral Newbie May 2, 2006 Author Share May 2, 2006 Is the Meguire DC paint cleaner same as Meguire's Clear Coat Body Scrub Plaint Cleaner? I have the Body Scrub Paint Cleaner and its very 'Squeeky' when buffing off. Does the DC Paint cleaner result in the same? This is wat im planning to do: 1. Wash with plain wather 2. Meguire's Clear Coat Body Scrub Plaint Cleaner 3. SRP 4. EGP Advisable?
Gen2 Neutral Newbie May 3, 2006 Share May 3, 2006 The Meguire's Clear Coat Body Scrub Paint Cleaner is similar to Meguiar DC paint cleaner and you should feel 'squeeky' clean after using the paint cleaner since all the sealant and wax are removed. Instead of washing with plain water, I suggest you use a car shampoo instead. The rest of your steps sounds right to me .
