Air Intakes and ECU tuning are legal.

 

Exos needs certification and inspection from LTA (quite possible to do) complete with homologation papers and certs like JASMA. Same for Turbo/SC (but much more difficult to do).

hi all.. i own a 2005 Hyundai Accent with auto transmission and what upgrades do u guys recommend? i want the engine to sound loud and sweet :) a few questions..

1) Is the 'Light tune package' from this company called 'McWell ventures' good?

2) Is there any aftermarket exhaust sysetem suitable for my car and how much would it cost?

3) Any other performance upgrades u guys recommend?

Suggestions:

1) dont go to McWell unless u wanna be a "carrot"

 

2) Aftermarket exhaust system is easily available for all cars. U can go Jeep Chee, Fong Kim or Man Exhaust. Malaysia will be cheaper. U can also operate on your own exhaust BUT when comes to inspection u might have problem swapping or u have to ask mechanic help u send in. U can also check if there is legal LTA approved exhaust for accent.

 

3) As some bros suggested, u can go for open pod. But u have to ask what u want to play with. Low to Mid? or Mid to High? if u normally don't even hit more than 3k rpm or 100km/h i will suggest u go for low to mid mod will do.

 

Other suggestions depends on your preference

3a) use k&n or hurricane drop in filter -(low end mod)

3b) use simota carbon charger ( low to mid)

3c) CAI - cold air intake

3d) 4-2-1 extractor (low to mid mod but illegal)

3e) 4-1 extractor (mid to high mod but illegal)

3f) change exhaust pipping to slightly bigger

3g) High flow CAT (illegal)

3h) change pulley (low end mod)

3i) Port & Polish and Bore Throttle body

3j) PiggyBack or change ecu ( the last item to mod)

 

To make ur car go faster u must also lighten your car too. handling must improve if you intend to take your car at fast corners- coilovers, lower brace, strut bars and antiroll bars are for improving handlings.

 

Important to take note.

Before u start any performance mods best is to improve your braking and tyres. U might be able to drive fast and furious but nothing is more important than able to brake on time.

that you can draw cold air by connecting your air con pipe to the air filter pipe.

Is that possible? will there be any consequences?

Ok maybe you'd like to link that thread here so we can all go there and give the fella who suggested it a good flaming. I mean, the suggestion sounds as good as drinking our own piss to quench our thirst.

 

Simple answer to your question: no. The aircon doesn't provide enough air for the engine, plus I'm sure, being in Singapore, that you've set your aircon to re-circulate mode. In that case, you're going to end up competing with your engine for air!

Hyundai Accent moddin ar.

 

Accent not a high rev type. Doing open pod maybe not yield u much, and with the low rpms already not so strong, u will pick-up like a snail. i dun think u will rev to change gears @5k rpm in order for your open pod to work.

 

Exhaust modding is considered illegal. Unless you are able to purchase original accent aftermarket parts. but i doubt so. The accent manifold is 4-1. Gd for higher rpm performance. if you want to get more power at lower rpm, meaning you want to shift the power band to lower rpms, you can consider changin to 4-2-1.

 

So far not much feedback on Accent running on piggys or ECU re-program. perhaps they can tune for performance, but i would guess only improvements on the high rpms.

 

Best mod for better sounding engine....get a bigger CC car.

Wise choice. I don't think our 2 cylinder, small bore short stroke breathing system can compete with even a 1 litre 4 cylinder engine.

Maybe you should consider hurricane stainless steel drop in filter. Just replace your original paper filter with this high air flow filter will do.

 

NA cars, especially auto... don't quite recommand using open pod.

 

Alternatively, consider close pod or carbon intake.

 

Open pod will either lose in low or high end power.

 

Drop in, will not lost in low end, but will improve much on highend.

 

Close pod and Carbon intake, i haven't try before. Might be better than openpod i pressume.
