Altis 1.8 vs. City VTEC

The price difference between the 2 are just less than 4k. Which offer more values and better buy? What do you think of their resale value?

In terms of performance, on the paper 0-100km/hr City has a better number. Road tax is also cheaper.

1. It kinda of difficult to compare in that manner, a 1.8L versus a 1.5L. Another thing, this two cars are also targeting at different segments.

 

2. So which is your priority? Century sprint or cost saving?

Btw the 2, city is more economical. but really wonder how a 1.5L SOHC VTEC can win a 1.8L VVTi in term of performance

City VTEC CVT @$59K, Altis 1.8 @$63K.

 

Altis has much more torque. Better built. I am driving Nissan N16 1.6SS now. I am looking for power, comfort, low maintenance and FC.

 

 

BTW, what is the road tax amount for Altis 1.8.

road tax for 1.8 is 1250bucks for the whole year... anyway seriously speaking there is no way for a city to oust a altis 1.8 in terms of acceleration.. unless u change the city cvt to manual loh..then maybe lose a bit..

Ya, not quite appropriate to compare the two. If just looking at price differential, must oso look at their OMVs. From the OMVs, then compare features for features to see which car gives value for money.

From the running costs point, consider the size of car, engine capacity, wear & tear because road tax, petrol and servicing are costs that vary from car to car. However parking, summons should be the same for all cars, rite? Then, there is financing cost - the pricer the car, the bigger the loan.

If one were to consider performance, then go for a peformance car! So when comparing cars, it is what you want and can afford (not from bank, mum or dad).

I used to owned a '03 City iDSI 1.5 and with K&N and E68 install, confirmed can accelerate faster than a Altis 1.6! If compare the 1.5 VTEC City (M)(few Horses more than iDSI 1.5) with the same upgrade to 1.8 Altis stock, I believe that they could be on par, if not, VTEC City (M) might still Win (0-100km/hr).

 

1) Lookwise, personally, I will choose the Altis.

 

2) Resale value, 1.8 Altis will fetch a higher price.

 

3) Long term running, things like what other have said, Road Tax, FC etc.... City is more econ. to operate than Altis, unless you just wanna own for 3 yrs and sell it off than go for the Altis.

 

It diffcult to choose between the 2 as each have their Pro+ and Con-!
