Sky8807 1st Gear June 8, 2006 Share June 8, 2006 My vote Michelin 4/5, Bridgestone 2/
Furrynadz 5th Gear June 8, 2006 Share June 8, 2006 1)Comfort = both about the same 2)noise = both abt the same, but mvx8 might be a little noisier as it wears, comparitively to gr80, but then all tyres grow noisier 3)Wet Grip = both abt same 4)Dry Grip = both abt same 5) Price = bs tyres are highly marked up here, as with michelins end of the day its ur preference, but mvx8 _IS_ proven
Frozebite Neutral Newbie June 8, 2006 Author Share June 8, 2006 Look like the michelin are better .I personal like the MXV8 also . Saw the review of the MXV8 is very good. And somemore the tread of the MXV8 is said to last very long also
Frozebite Neutral Newbie June 8, 2006 Author Share June 8, 2006 The gr80 was quoted $95 for 1956015 and mxv8 is $105 fro same size
Furrynadz 5th Gear June 8, 2006 Share June 8, 2006 mvx8 lah michelin is a proven brand anyway...gr80 = xm1 (comparitively), mvx8 is considered luxury tyre class
Frozebite Neutral Newbie June 8, 2006 Author Share June 8, 2006 I tend to agree also. But my friend tried the XM1 and the performance is good . So that is why i wanted to try michelin also . Never tried michelin before
Sky8807 1st Gear June 8, 2006 Share June 8, 2006 (edited) I had used Michelin tyres b4 previously. Its comfortable and good for wet and dry driving conditions in our region also. I heard that now they might be from thai and that is why the price different are smaller bet jap brand. I used to pay abt $30 -$40 more than the other brand for the same size. Do check where are the tyre made b4 buying. Edited June 8, 2006 by Sky8807
Frozebite Neutral Newbie June 8, 2006 Author Share June 8, 2006 The $10 difference is for germany made MXV8
Pisces69 6th Gear June 8, 2006 Share June 8, 2006 If only $10 more for german made, check if it is made with silica compound. Silica tyres r much better. The thai ones dont use silica.

Kelpie 2nd Gear June 8, 2006 Share June 8, 2006 Bro can i check with you all which one is a better choice in term of 1)Comfort 2)noise 3)Wet Grip 4)Dry Grip 5) Price 1. I'm curretnly using MXV8 on my Civic. This is my 3rd set of tyres. 1st set was GR80 and 2nd set was Hankook K104. 2. The MXV8 likes to scream when doing steep cornering at say 80Km/h othewise its ok. GR80 doesn't take cornering that well, it skid more than once so thats why I changed to K104. MXV8 is quieter but there is no quiet tyres as soon as you hit 80km/h and above. Sound proofing of your car also plays a part. 3. K104 is a performance tyre so MXV8 and GR80 can't compare with it. MXV8 offers slightly better comfort level. Wet grip, both of them are not strong. I often have to downshift to D3 from D for my auto car under wet condition if I want to chiong at traffic light from standstill. If not, the car will wobble when chiong. No such problem with K104. Having said that, GR80 may fare better under wet road. Regards,
Frozebite Neutral Newbie June 8, 2006 Author Share June 8, 2006 MXV8 will be a better choice
Pisces69 6th Gear June 9, 2006 Share June 9, 2006 Country of origin is stated on the sidewall of the tyre. My XM1 is made in thai & the tyre guy said it's not silica compound. I'm not sure if XM1 got from germany but if u can find & is only $10 more per pc, see if it's mentioned on the tyre if it's made with silica compound. Silica tyres have a much better grip. Maybe only the german MXV4 or MXV8 is with silica? I got my XM1 from Justin of pxx xxxg.
