Car Scratched at SM

Hi all,

Sent my Dad's S40 for servicing yesterday. Upon collection, saw scratches along the left door and colour coded door strip at the right. [mad] The scratches were quite bad....can see e base paint. Very obvious as the car is dark blue in colour.

SM has agreed to rectify the problem. But it will take 2 days. NO courtesy car will be provided. Is there any means to seek compensation for the loss of use of the car?

To all Volvo owners, please check your car carefully upon collecting it from the service centre. Make sure the dings, dents, scratches which were originally present are noted before u sign e acknowledgement slip.

The level of service at SM has really dropped [shakehead]

Hi,

Sorry to hear about the scratches, and coming from SM, this kindda shucks [:/]

Good to know that SM will be rectifying the problem [nod] Have you tried speaking to someone higher up in the corporate hierarchy to see if a courtesy car can be extended?

Sorry case this is ... [:|][shakehead]

I've only spoken to e Svc Advisor, who has referred e case to the workshop manager. Was quite pissed off initially. When the problem was highlighted to e cashier, it took them 10 mins or so to gather e mechs who may have came in contact with e car. Then e spray painter to ascertain whether the scratches could be removed. Spent 1 hour at SM to see them sort things out.

I'll pen a e-mail to the service manager, should the SA confirm that no courtesy car is given.

FYI, the first 15k service costs $322.40. Only change e oil, oil filter and 2 cabin a/c filters. High price to pay considering the job they do and the kind of sucky service we got

i guess screw ups do happen. not that i think it is right though but accidents......i would have been very understanding if there was a replacement car. but now they say no replacement then you should start whacking the sxxt out of them. My friend's 325 went to PML for servicing, later they called him to say they kana minor accident during test drive!!!! but must say PML did everything for him, repairs, spray, replacement.......

They're using Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40

V disillustion w e way SM works. I've been keeping track of e Volvo spare parts. Parts alone cost $80-150 at most. They're profitting at least $150 from e package

This is e minor servicing....wait till e major ones come in and e bill will shoot to $600 or more

Will definitely write to them abt e courtesy car....or at least some monetary compensation for e loss of use of e car during e repair period

I'll definitely write to them if e SA can't promise a courtesy car or $ compensation for loss of use of car. They're negligent.....why must they implicate e car owner. Furthermore we're paying a premium to hv e car serviced by e agent

Sorry to hear abt your plight. Agree that SM service dept is unable to meet customer's expectations in certain key areas. [shakehead] Even if courtesy car is not provided, the least they can do is offer compensation for taxi fare as the fault is theirs. Do keep us informed of your case. Fight to the max, bro! [thumbsup]

I think our car is famous since the day we took over from SM. First we complained about the paintwork w embedded particles. Over the next couple of months, the car was sent back repeatedly to rectify problems like rattling, creaking, loose front spkr connection, condensation in front headlamps etc. The car is less than a year old and it has been brought back to SM for more than 8 times, excluding servicing already.

Will bang e table...if there is no compensation made.

Dear bro,

Beware when u send ur T4 for servicing. SM looks just like BM or TC for that matter now. The workshop is like a production line. They're marketing on their level of customer service to attract customers.

Agreed tt e level of service was v good from pre-sales to the delivery of the car. But post-delivery......everything takes almost a 180 deg turn.

Do u hv any lobangs to svc our S40 outside? I'll definitely not be visiting them after the warranty period. But need a workshop which knows how to reset the service reminder lamp.

Yep, the level of professionalism and satisfaction doesn't seem to carry thru from pre-sales to after-sales. [:(]

I'm stuck wif them for the next 3 yrs as mine comes wif the full maintenance package. Maybe they needed to bundle the package this way otherwise their workshop will have to close shop. BVO has been mentioned in MCF but heard that the Mobil station along tanglin rd is also familiar wif volvos. If u go up to JB, could also try Federal Auto (m'sian distributor). I'm sure TB will have some tricks up his sleeve to off the service light since he does his own oil changes.

Hmm few years ago I sent my rover for service in the previous agent

's workshop at Ubi. When I collect the car I saw a deep scratch at the

front bumper. I complained to the service personnel in charge. He denied

that was caused by them and started argue with me. I was very sure

it happened there since I checked and washed my car just 2 days before that.

I was so pissed off and immediately wrote a complaint letter to the senior

manager about the attidute of this guy.

They called me back and offer to touch up for free but I never did and never

go back to the agent for service again.

Continue hounding the Service manager and bring the issue to the GM if necessary. Send the GM a formal letter by snail mail noting all the communications you had with the SAs and Service Manager.

It's appalling SM service stooped to such denial. [shakehead][thumbsdown]

"SM has agreed to rectify the problem. But it will take 2 days. NO courtesy car will be provided. Is there any means to seek compensation for the loss of use of the car? "

This gesture indicates that they admit it is their mistake. They shuold provide courtesy car and compensation.

If I were you, I will go knocking at the GM's door, or even get the press.
