Hi all

Just wanna some of your input with regards to the above. I'm planning to install the above but may I ask are there any implications or unforseen difficulties that may arise from installing the gauge?

I was being told that the temp sensor will be tapped @ the exhaust/manifold and that it'll be drilled to accomodate the sensor.

Thanks for your inputs.

Cheers

The exhaust pipe or muffle are make of thin sheet metal and therefore don't have enough thickness for threading To hold the sensor properly the mechanic need to use a steel sleeve and rivet it into the drilled hole on the exhaust pipe or muffler. The sleeve is normally with 18mm or 12mm spark plug thread tap

Depends on where you want to monitor the temperature. Of course the closer to the extractor, the more accurate it'll be of the exhaust gas. (Also hotter).

If you're driving a TC car.... some of these pipes already have bungs for you to attach the sensor. If that's the case, then no need to drill and weld on a bung.

yes,the extractor need to be drilled to install the sensor and then weld them together...

Drill extractor? [shocked] I tot the sensor is always placed near the exhaust tip area.

That's for the O2 sensor.

Exhaust temp is to be placed as close to the cylinder as possible. That means on the extractor, as close to the block as possible. Preferably, on the extractor coming from the cylinder seeing highest temperature.

true!! but to force fit on our headers using welding isn't a great idea as well... i suggest get the headers ported and at the same time look for a suitable position
