Is the car and/or the other driver, like I said, it was survivable for other cars when I saw the accident.

Whilst we all feel sorry for your friend, it is not justified to state it's survivable for other cars. Maybe for some reliable conti models, but we won't know unless they include roof top crashes and tendency to flip in NCAPP tests.

Anyway, it is always good to invest in more air bags. It's sad that for some Singaporeans, they prefer to have all the "goodies" from the SE, but never mind about having even just 1 airbag for the driver and none for passengers! Take note many NCAPP tests are done on models with full complement of airbags (frontal and sides), yet many base models in S'pore comes with 1 driver airbag... [hur]

Absolutely and agree, maybe some model are worse off than other, however, it is the design method the car employed and what is even more alraming is that some distributors even took out the standards air bags and selling the car cheap. And keep those parts as spares for their second car business, parts.

Thanks Bro!

Initially the specs mentioned about 18 km/L. I doubt so. [shakehead]

However, 14km/L for a 1.8L car is very good liao. Any other driver can confirm this figure?

I am thinking about changing my car to the 1.8L Civic or the new Stream 1.8L ( waiting for Kah motor pricing)

Agree...however, when you are a safe driver and you depends on the car safety from the other reckless guy. Krisknan, a friend of mine, was making a turn slowed down his car, another came from behind and flipped his Civic and he was killed when the roof collapse. Is the car and/or the other driver, like I said, it was survivable for other cars when I saw the accident.

sorry to hear about ur fren. actually we really don know what car can survive under these circumstances as all crash rating are done without flip test. i think even those with 6 airbags can't do any good in this case as the airbags are no employed to protect roof impact [shakehead]

I think we do, just many of us lack the knowledge to or know how,ie, the standard and test the car went through. However, many thinks I will never be the one...often and many they are are right too. To each it's choice.

hmm but sometimes it's also budget. who wouldn't want a safe Volvo, BM or Merc if he can own one but very often due to budget constrain they'll have to go for the best within the budget [:(]

Agree, budget, but then...there are low budget safe cars eg.....Getz is around S$30+ K, surprisingly isn't it. Hence, I guess it is lack of knowledge or research...or could not be bothered etc.

Don't believe what I said, do a little search on the web at least. There are many standards in the world, of corse there are European and Japanese etc standards, but look at what they test the car on and for. The one I usually look at is NECAP.

Had an exchanged with someone here on Madza 6SP, he feel it is safe, but the NECAP differs with the Japanese standard, much was said that it is anti Jap and Korean, but this says otherwise.

Like I said don't believe me, do a search to justify yourself.

But not to discount any fact but generally, jap cars, not just hondas, are not as robust as their europe counterparts.

This is because Jap manufacturers tend to place higher importance in fuel economy than their european rivals, whom places safety very high on their lists.

oh i see. no wonder they look like carton box with wheels.

SHC has a poll for nowadays the hotest topic Civic FD: why do you buy Civic FD? [mad]

here for non-civic owners, how.. [confused]

why not buy Ciic FD? simple, bad value for money. There is better choice in many others model whether in the same price range or cc or size or technology...
