All I can say is that the dealers must be laughing their way to the bank with all the gullible would-be car buyers queueing to buy their cars due to the "low" COE.

 

1. Komoco's list price has not dropped a single cent since the last bidding.

 

2. YET, their COE rebate has dropped to only $1k.

 

This pricing strategy has essentially increased their own margins yet covering their downside risk at the same time

maybe this $2 coe is a 'tactic' by dealers. Get the coe low low to stimulate interest :)

Yes it's nowwhere near low yet, esp when the dealers lower the COE rebate level even more to cover their downside. So not only they make from car margins, they also make from COE.

 

However, many many Singaporeans do not or dun bother to understand the whole system of COE and car ownership. They just think "Wah COE now so low, I see my neighbor buy, I also want to buy" kind of mentality
