G3 vs V8 RS vs ECSTA SPT XPT vs Others?

Currently running on 195/55 R15 Bridgestone Potenza G3.

But tyres getting old...

Unlike cars, i can't exactly test drive tyres and there's so much choices out there...so i'm limiting myself to these 3 choices..

Will appreciate any opinions on my 3 choices and which would you choose if you were me.

1) Stick with the G3 cause well it's good but noisy

2) Hankook V8 RS

3) Kumho ECSTA SPT XPT - does this come in 15"?

4) Other choice?

For me, i want a tyre that will last at least 1.5yrs, good dry grip and good wet grip, esp wet cause i'm very scared in wet...already skid on the G3 before in wet and that's supposed ot be a good wet tyre...or maybe it was just be cornering too fast in the rain hehe.

I've used 2 sets of Potenza G3, tyres is also wearing out soon. I'll probably try Goodyear GSD3 F1, seems to have very good review and experience from bros in the forum. And the Thai made F1 is cheaper tha G3 smile.gif

Hmmm...seems like everyone is recommending me tyres other than the 3 i shortlisted...eh....now that makes my decision even harder...:(

Somehow i'm not a big fan of the brand goodyear...just dun like the name :) so i'll skip that...

Thanks everyone...keepem coming....

I might be hard up for choices cause i want to remain at 195/55 R15 and few tyres have that profile size

GR-80 is good, not so noisy.

For F1 Eagle, make sure you get the german made...else the thai ones are only so so, how i know? coz i'm using the thai ones now. [sweatdrop] so do a few friends of mine, and we all decided to change as soon as we can.

while i have not used the "germans" ones before, based on the reviews seen regarding the F1. I expected the F1 tyres to perform better then what i'm experiencing now.

I used to be on Falcon ZE512 then GR-80, and the dry handling is better then the F1 i'm having now. On the wet , the thai F1 is "slightly" better then the GR-80.

The falcon ZE512 was quite good in both wet and dry, but wears out pretty fast and is quite noisy.

My friend who used to be on Hankook RS2 commented pretty much the same, and to think it was me that recommended F1 to him. [sweatdrop]

Although the price is good for thai made F1s, if i can reverse time i'll probably choose another model instead.

So what size are you using for the thai F1?

You mentioned that the 512 and GR80 had better dry handling, which aspect is better.

Better grip, sharper turn in, stiffer sidewalls?

I am on FK451 18" now [sweatdrop][sweatdrop] thinking of downgrading to 17" next round.

Of the different ones I have used in the past, I rate FK451>ST115>ES100>NS2>Stock BS391. Too bad 451 is EOL.

Erm, beside the qns of why the Thai sucks which someone have asked, how's the price difference between the thai made and German? [:)]

better grip i feel, while turning the feeling of "losing" control is lesser, wah 18" , tyres must have cost you a "bomb"!

i didn't ask, but it will probably cost as much as 50% more... i think the 16" thai f1 is selling for around 140-150. german made ones if you can find probably 180-190

So which model will you go for?

Hankook V8 RS?

How's the noise level for F1 compared to GR80?

May I know the profile and size of your rubber and on which car?

Cheers [:)]

i'll probably go back to GR80, currently on 205/50/16

i can't comment much on the Hankook V8 RS , since i never used it before, but my friend did say he will probably try that out after he worn out this set of F1.

actually if i'm not wrong, you can find F1s closer to 115

I got them at $180 each from you know who (J)...

Did the price of F1 went up? I was quoted around $145 for 215/45R17 thai f1 at amk autopoint some 3 months ago.
