Hi, would like to have some advise on some ICE setup. Currently my rde comes with a Pioneer HU (cant remember the model) I have just installed a Apline Active Sub. I am looking for a decent component speaker budget around $250. I have went ard a few shop and the more shop i vist the more confuse as all speaker seem good to me. Can some expert advise with my budget which brand and model should I be looking? Do I need a Amp when my HU is 50W X 2? shld I change the back speaker to Coaxial or component? And can someone recommend me any good and reliable shop?

Thanks alot!

my view is to concentrate on your front speakers first. your stock rear speakers should be sufficient.

around 250, i believe there are several component speaker models out in the market that you can consider. Perhaps if could stretch to 350/400, you have more alternatives.

personally, i like to upgrade step by step to appreciate the differences. So, in your case, the first step would probably be an upgrade of your front speakers. By doing this, you should be able to hear significant improvements. Subsequently, can consider putting in an amp to drive your component speakers more optimumly. Of course, at the time when you consider getting an amp, you should consider if you would like to put in a subwoofer. With a subwoofer, you would need to consider a more powerful multichannel amp.

hope this helps, sorry cant really recommend specific models coz am slightly out of touch. but i used to have a CDT Classic speakers CDT CL61 which lasted me several years before upgrading. pretty decent pair of speakers and sound good even when powered by HU.

CDT around $280 with installation.

My friend went to below shop for CDT

and service not bad.

Focus on yr front first. CDT, Rainbow and MB Quart

all around $280 to $360 which can give you decent sound.

For MB Quart and Rainbow, you can go to Auto Sound Enterprise

at no.23 Aljunied Road. Tel: 67474871. good price.

Leave your rear speaker stock at the moment. Unless you everytime

ferry pple, then you may want to upgrade the rear at a later stage.

A cheap 2 way speaker cost around $80 to $100 can give you pretty

decent sound, much better than stock.

If change to component speaker at the reat, you will need 4 channel

amp to power both front and rear to give you better sound. But will cost

you another $800 to $1000.

sorry bro, never heard of db drive speaker.

My friends including me has installed those

common brand speakers like CDT, Rainbow, MB quart,

Alpine.

Any chance that you can audit the db drive speaker

at that shop? If it has won many prizes, the shop should

have a demo setup.

I am using a pair of infinity reference, sound as right to my liking. Of course Kappa is the more popular one. Anyway, go for CDT. You already have woofer, so clarity would be a nice addition to your set-up. CDT seems to be good at clarity, better than my reference, which is more bassy.

hi, got a quote from Pin Liang, 280 wo installation and 330 w installation.

They told me that their installation is with a spacer and some sound proofing ard the speaker (not the whole door). is this common?

Mine was done 1 year ago and it didn't come with wooden spacers and little sound proofing. But mine had the whole cable changed to proper RCA cables, you might want to check this out. The stock cable as thin ones like those used in our science project in primary school.

Anyway, if got change cables, S$50 installation is petty decent.

Go listern to both if possible. Bring your own CD so you know it well enough to know what it should sound like, or what you want it to sound like. If all else fail, go for the cheaper one, since both brands have their own set of supporters mean they are both good, but you wouldn't know which you would like.
