The XF will replace the S-type. Once the XF comes out, the "S" designation will be retired for good. This is to keep the model nomenclature consistent :

 

XJ(flagship sedan)

XK(coupe)

XF(entry level sedan)=outgoing S-type

 

The X-type range will discontinued as it is considered too downmarket for Jaguar's image.

i see. actually i quite like the original S-Type design, coz it resembles the old MK-II very much. but the upcoming facelift is really a let down
