Guyver 1st Gear June 2, 2002 Share June 2, 2002 Michel.. Noise from the car can come from the front or rear.. For my Corolla G9, the rear boot is the one that transmit the wheel noise into the cabin. The simplest way to test this is to use pillows.. Clear your rear boot and stuff it with Pillows. If the noise dampens alot on the road, clearly you will know where the sound is coming from. From past experience.. Lancers and Corollas, much of the sound is from the rear wheels. For the hondas civivc 2001 models... the boot are rather solid. my 2 cents.. Think u are becoming a "sound proof" expert liao... wanna setup shop is it?? ↡ Advertisement
Michel Neutral Newbie June 3, 2002 Share June 3, 2002 (edited) would love too...but no $$$$ Anyway, i just come to realise that my lancer doesn't come with sound insulation on the firewall at the engine side as compared to the predecessors and it lacks adequate soundproofing in the cabin as well. So, i guess i'll be focusing on the floor pan before going bit by bit to the doors, bonnet, hood etc.... That's really a lot of money to spend.... Czechmate Neutral Newbie June 15, 2002 Share June 15, 2002 i am seriously keen to improve the sound insulation/damping for my car. its an octavia. have u done any so far? does it add significant weight to the car? can give me ballpark estimate of the cost - the full works? thanx
AutoS Neutral Newbie June 16, 2002 Share June 16, 2002 Heat resistant, Fire retardent Damping 4 bonnet, full floor pan, and boot floor / Bitumen and lead sheet for all door panels and side panels for Octavia $950. Road noise will be muffled and outside noise will be repelled. At first U may feel a bit eerie cuz a little furny with all the outside noise muffled. Roof we got to take a look and quote separately depending on how complicated. Coupled W/ something like V-Kool Ur car will in fact never get really hot, even under direct hot sunlight. Czechmate Neutral Newbie June 21, 2002 Share June 21, 2002 hmmm...tough question...without too much exaggeration i would say...No insulation more like it...practically hear everything...besides cost, i hesitate to do the insulation becos the aircon is also pretty loud and i think (but i could be wrong) even if i do the insulation it wont help with the aircon sound.
