Silveratenza Neutral Newbie May 25, 2007 Share May 25, 2007 Can't help but thinking VW should be selling Lambo soon... If not, doesn't this product overlaps what Lambo is doing since R8 is sharing most parts with Gallardo... I think they are trying to "steal" as much technology as possible before the final selloff... Have heard from some auto news somewhere that the Italians intend to bring the Lambo brand back to where it should belong...
Guest66 Neutral Newbie May 25, 2007 Author Share May 25, 2007 (edited) ahhh..but the plot thickens..with Porsche wanting to buy over VW. Imagine Porsche owns VW which makes them own Audi and Porsche selling Lambos? or Bugattis? good..good...the demise of Lambos!! what a useless poser pc of metal! Yep, rumor that FIAT may wan to buy back Lambo, consolidate all the " national" brand. empty vessels makes the most noise! Salomon Neutral Newbie May 26, 2007 Share May 26, 2007 tat gearbox not dsg la. DSG is only avaliable to east-west mount engines. not yet engineered for north-south mount engines. so only the size "A" platform gets DSG gearbox so far.
Meggyc Neutral Newbie May 26, 2007 Share May 26, 2007 Porsche taking over VW is good thing on the whole. Wendelin Wiedeking has done wonders at Porsche. That said, Wendelin Wiedeking and Dr. Martin Winterkorn (ex Audi CEO) are looking to challenge Toyota and BMW. This union will probably create some synergy even though there will be some initial consolidation for VW i.e plant closures . In any case, Porsche and Aud have worked together in the past, creating the wonderfully sublime Audi RS2, RS4 and RS6, I don't see any problem with them working together again. Right now, the case is being heard in the EU courts. Till then, Porsche is not allowed to take the majority stake in VW.
Meggyc Neutral Newbie May 26, 2007 Share May 26, 2007 Because of the low position of the R8 engine, that S tronic (Audi DSG) gear box could not fit into the R8. Instead a "lameduck" R tronic gearbox was put in; motor journalists were berating how the gear change ratios were all wrong for this supercar. BMW320i Neutral Newbie May 26, 2007 Share May 26, 2007 Very nice and aggressive. I've always like the Audi's RS4 interior and the R8 certainly has a bit of RS4's DNA.

Guest66 Neutral Newbie May 26, 2007 Author Share May 26, 2007 I know abt the RS2 , but I didnt know the RS4 and RS6 were Porsche "creation." I thought it was with Cosworth & Haldex.. Having said that. yes. the TIP gearbox, Brakes are interchangeable wz Porsche.n that is more because of the VW connection than Audi or Auto Union at that time. since F.Porsche worked wz VW n took the beetle design n evolved on it to made it into the 911 frame. n now its interesting how all e JV are taking place..Porsche & Cosworth wz Subaru now doing tech exchange.CHeers
BMW320i Neutral Newbie May 26, 2007 Share May 26, 2007 (edited) I never had the luck of spotting RS4s in Singapore. Just waiting for the RS5 to launch. Hopefully somebody will buy it in Singapore so that I can see it upfront. Not very good. I put in the Cosworth 272 camshaft and end up losing 30hp at the hubs. Fuel quality and mechanical problem has been ruled out. The workshop is contacting Cosworth to see if there is a possible defect. How about Tomei?..mayb the C272 is not giving the right lift angle or timing? I guess it's the fault isolation that is time consuming & frus! why not put back stock cams/parts n try running AEM or Orbit instead? jus my humble 2cts!! Anyway..hope u got it sort out soon.
