Yaloryalor 5th Gear February 10, 2007 Share February 10, 2007 I agreed with some bro here. If you just drive in Singapore, get a 2WD will do! Another choice I like is the Suzuki GV! Fierce and look muscular!
Carcraze 1st Gear February 10, 2007 Share February 10, 2007 (edited) FYIPrevia, Picnic, Rav4 and Prius is an export model from japan, and their 1st trip is to thailand before heading down to Singapore. From thailand, they'll do up OEM parts thus spare parts of these cars are also from thailand. Correct cars from Japan(JDM) will not use China engine but BM cars are not JDM but export model. Anyway are you in sales? IF you are, i believe a BM SE will not tell her customer Toyota is from thailand and engine from China. They'll instead say theirs are export model from Japan. So Please, Use some common sense on your last point. Thanks i'm not a BM SE. i'm in the Shipping Line. Shipment of the above mentioned cars are direct from Japan. the ship did not/will not do a stopover in Thailand. "i believe a BM SE will not tell her customer Toyota is from thailand and engine from China." do a search, i believe you'd be able to get details from the web too. Toyota's contract to built engines in China is only applicable to the 2.0 and 2.4l engine (for now). The plant in China DO NOT assemble any other range of engines. Engines assembled in China are for domestic market and are only exported to Thailand and Taiwan. Pls, not everyone is stupid enough to believe whatever SEs says. There are people who research on the cars they want to buy prior to their purchase. They'd know where their cars are coming from. I don't think SEs would wanna lie abt the original place of manufacture. Their integrity is at stake here man. One of my family cars is a Picnic. Spare parts do not come from thailand. Infact, thailand have no parts for Picnic at all. This car doesn't even exist there. When the car was first collect, the Export Receipt was given to me as well. POL and POD were Japan and Singapore respectively. Oh well, but if you still wanna believe whatever whoever has told you abt these cars not being direct from Japan, so be it. Period. Zealot Neutral Newbie February 10, 2007 Share February 10, 2007 (edited) personally i'll go for the RAV4 , sat in 1 before and i really like it. Edited February 10, 2007 by Zealot
Carcraze 1st Gear February 10, 2007 Share February 10, 2007 on your topic. i will not/can't go for PI (dad wouldn't allow). so it's either Rav4 from BM or CR-V from KM. My pick? the CR-V. the Rav4 makes do with a 4spd auto while the CR-V gets a 5spd. Also, CR-Vs AWD system is "Real-time". This means, the engine basically powers the front two wheels most of the time. Only when there's a need and it is detected, all four wheels would be powered. This system is good and helps save fuel.

I don't think big car company will make the QC inferior in those countries. just like most semi-conductor are from Taiwan and South Korea.....than how means most of the computer chip, ECU part all from taiwan and korea not Europe and USA
Jeffrey 1st Gear February 11, 2007 Share February 11, 2007 bros, just rav or crv lah, no other models as i already scale down to this 2. thanks Don't sell yourself short - go and test the 2.5XT Forester. Very good price and a great SUV - the high power/torque and AWD system beats the CRV handsdown (I ought to know as I had 2 CRVs before). FC is about the same as my previous 2.0L CRV. Zealot Neutral Newbie February 11, 2007 Share February 11, 2007 (edited) in terms of looks the boxy forester, looks kinda of "old",seriously needs a rethink on the looks dept, and the new tribeca seems to be the answer. Keithpapa Neutral Newbie February 12, 2007 Share February 12, 2007 FYI, only the Vios, Yaris, Altis and Camry comes from thailand. Previa, Picnic, Rav4 and Prius comes direct from Japan. i know abt the engines being assembled in China (not the entire range thou, cars from Japan will not use the China assembled engine, those from Thailand with displacement of 2.0/2.4l would as the engine is imported from the China plant), Toyota did mention that before. I seriously urge you to get your future sis-in-law to get her facts right. Imagine a SE telling her customer that the car is from thailand when it's actually from Japan. Relax true enough. Keithpapa Neutral Newbie February 12, 2007 Share February 12, 2007 Some still very sensitive about the product origin. BTW, new CRV is huge and it's interior is definitely better than the previous version. Not sure about the drive.

Chickenfarm Turbocharged September 7, 2007 Share September 7, 2007 bros, i need some advise which suv to go for... whether to purchase from authorise dealer or PI. thanks Have u even done a test drive on the 2 mentioned makes yet or had a look at their interior and finishing? I think if the answer to my question is 'Yes', then the answer to your own question (above) is automatically unravelled isn't it? (well, at least on the make part...the PI or AD thingie is also very sujective). It is rather premature to talk about whether u wanna breed kampong chicken or meat chicken (bak kuay) before u even tested them yourself right? Others may say this taste good and that taste awful but what is your taste?
