Althought it might have the power but i doubt it's pratical in singapore.

seriously, it's not practical for those seeking utilitarian drive.

 

for those who seek for performance and utility, it is an absolutely-super-more practical -bargain ride than EVO, WRX or whatever sedan/wagon/SUV sports car out there.

Know the predicament you're in, as I was in that position couple of months ago. Went to test drive couple of SUVs currently available, such as RAV4, Outlander & CRV. Left the Grand vitara out as I was previously driving one, and was looking for a refreshing change.

 

Of the above SUVs that I've test-driven, I found the CRV to have the most comfortable ride with a more plush interior finish. Granted that of course, the exterior look is rather contentious and needs time getting used to. But it tends to grow on you, as with any other thing that is relatively controversial and unseen before.

 

I ended up buying the 2.0L CRV from KM, as I really liked the sporty look and the fact that it steered away from the 'jeep' look of the previous generation. Having driven it for close to a month, I've honestly have to say that initially I do feel a hint of underpower beneath the bonnet, and I reckoned this is very much due to the new engine parts being still too tightly woven. The power has definitely improved after the first 1K run-in service and I am not experiencing the lethargy in the acceleration anymore. On FC, I'm getting about 9.5km/L, but was told by service agent this should improve gradually to 10km/L after the run-in.

 

As for buying from PI, heard enough of horror stories so didn't even bother to try. Just read about the recent case of vehicles being repo due to dishonourable PI.

 

And on the road, I've received compliments from strangers who thought the car was handsome looking with some even saying that it resembles an X3. Not sure if the last comment was a compliment though :-)

 

Generally speaking, the CRV is a great car to own and drive, and with a reasonably good resale value due to its time tested reliability and a brand that is synonymous with innovative engineering. Yes, you do have to part more with your wallet for this car as compared to say a 2.4L Rav4, but the fact that you're driving a more reputable and probably prestigous honda car does tend to put one at a greater ease.

Let me give a break down of these 2 cars

 

Rav4 from BM

-made in thailand

 

No need to quarrel regarding this as my future sis-in-law is in BM

 

 

Since when the Rav4 was assembled in the gateway plant??

 

Ask to future sis-in-law to check again. The LWB-Rav4 by BM is an export model direct from Japan.

Ok let's see a airtrek turbo 2.0L Turbo-charge versus a Forestor 2.5L Turbo-charge.

Forestor have a 500cc advantage and you expect the airtrek to win?

 

 

Btw jackfoo, either car you get, make sure you get the 2.4L version, much more enjoyable to drive then the 2L versions.

It's up to you whether to believe ornot. I state facts and not baseless statements.

I do not discriminate BM, KM nor PI, but only state what i know.

Go to MI and test drive the 07 Forester,

 

Both the 2.0NA & 2.5XT variants.

 

Though the interior may not come with all the bells and whistles, you will not be disappointed with the drive, the way it takes corners, and of course the rumbling boxer note at high revs.

 

2.0NA, depending on individual may not be underpowered. FC for my family's 2.0X is about 10km/l, (due to 1.5ton body + AWD + Auto + High compression ratio) depending on how we drive.

 

For the 2.5XT, its about the same, 8-9 if you keep to the occasional boosting(very hard to do so. ).

 

Or of course if you have the cash, can consider the Forester STI. Must PI in though, but its mannual and it can outrun the Wrx STI on straights, and lose in the corners by a fraction of a second.

as i just got it last week, the FC is not accurate. currently going at about 8-9KM/L but i heard that after first 1000km change oil, the FC will improve to 9-10KM/L. remember its 6 speed CVT selectable 2/4WD, so FC definitely better than those with turbos

 

My pal's CRV 2.0L is going at 9-10km/l.....definitely not a bad figure.

only the Vios, Yaris, Altis and Camry comes from thailand.

 

Previa, Picnic, Rav4 and Prius comes direct from Japan.

 

i know abt the engines being assembled in China (not the entire range thou, cars from Japan will not use the China assembled engine, those from Thailand with displacement of 2.0/2.4l would as the engine is imported from the China plant), Toyota did mention that before.

 

I seriously urge you to get your future sis-in-law to get her facts right. Imagine a SE telling her customer that the car is from thailand when it's actually from Japan.

CRV 2.4L from KM has my vote. The RAV is close to a year older (design; technology) than the CRV.

FYI

Previa, Picnic, Rav4 and Prius is an export model from japan, and their 1st trip is to thailand before heading down to Singapore. From thailand, they'll do up OEM parts thus spare parts of these cars are also from thailand.

 

Correct cars from Japan(JDM) will not use China engine but BM cars are not JDM but export model.

 

Anyway are you in sales? IF you are, i believe a BM SE will not tell her customer Toyota is from thailand and engine from China. They'll instead say theirs are export model from Japan. So Please, Use some common sense on your last point.

Yes the Forester 2.5XT is the one to go if you are buying now. If you can wait, wait for the Honda Turbo version of RDX which is based on CRV platform. Good look and performance too. Go test drive the Subaru turbo to get a feel of the 'Kick', its addictive..
