Speaking from experience, I feel that there are many factors to consider when buying a car. In term of outlook and driveability, it's very personal. As one of the members have mentioned, the Kia Rio is totally different with the other two. One being affordability.

Perhaps, you might wish to gather a range of cars of similar capacity, around the price range as Kia Rio and from there, you try out the cars and narrow down to the one that you feel comfortable with and price.

Buying and driving a car is very individual such as space, etc. As far as FC is concerned, it's very subjective as it depends on where you drive mostly. Allow a provision of roughly (+ -) 2 km/L depending on the driving style and whether city/highways and the % of the former/latter.

As for me, if I am considering a particular price range of cars, I will test drive several times until I am satisfied before deciding. Reason being that I do not want to regret buying later on.

I feel that the above is one of the practical approaches to decide on what car you want.

true, first thing is to decide what kind of car you want?

the Rio is out-of-league with M3 or Latio

should be more like Sunny, Lancer, Vios, Liana, Optra ??

Any brothers have kia rio?

Any comment on the new kia rio?

Worth buy compared to Jap make like M3 or Latio?

I am a 1.4HB Rio owner. I choose that car over Lancer/Sunny is coz:

- I like the looks of the Rio HB. [inlove]

- Engine is very refined and comparable, if not, better than most 1.4-1.6L jap cars.

- Cabin noise is surprisingly low! Even more more quiet than lancer/sunny.

- Internal cabin layout is [thumbsup]

- Much newer model than the current lancer/sunny

- Need the booth space to contain tall objects like bird cages/fish tanks that cannot fit into the booth of a sedan.

I personally feel that RIO should be compare with VIOS, WIRA, GEELY CK, A168 and Verna or Getz.

For Sunny, Lancer, Liana & Optra it should be compared with Cerato instead.

Thanks. yes probably I should compare Rio with Lancer/Vios if I just look at price. Because I factor in the period of design model and the outlook of the car together with FC and price.

Vios is out because it's really the least spacious car and not that refined. built not solid enough.

Lancer is ok with it design but it's very outdated and engine is noisy. my gf feels it's ah beng.

Altis is too common and outdated model with normal design by toyota with made all models similarly [sweatdrop]

The new Rio has quiet cabin and new and refined interior with comes with cheap price thou without airbag and some other stuffs. (Not test driven yet but my neighbour has one)

M3 has very good design and solid built, good equipment level like ABS, front rear disc brake, LED lighting, aerokit, nice dashboard, but with slightly higher price. (Test driven and loves the handling)

Latio is also priced same or lower as M3 but is very well equipped with digital climate control, ionizer, dual airbag, very good FC, very quiet cabin, and one of the latest model. (Test driven, loves the quietness but do not like the CVT)

Difficult to decide, any other recommendation?

I find Honda City ugly and not as sleek as M3. quite a thai looking car.

Honda Jazz seems nice but it's again going out-of-date design plus it's 1400cc and not as stable as M3 or Altis at higher speed.

In fact I would love honda civic, the only good car by honda below 75k now. but it's overpriced and very high profit margin by honda. alot of it paid to the premium set by honda. till now I am not a die-hard honda fan yet.

to decide on buying a car based on airbag is no no, although having a airbag is good..bu once the airbag is deployed means the car is having a serious collision, sometime having a airbag may not help either. But the price of lancer nw is [thumbsup] 37,988 for a manual one
