New vios vs old vios. which design look better?

The old Vios defintely looks sportier, the new one looks more grown up. But that does not equate to ugliness [:)] If I have the choice, I will still take the old one. Has anyone sat in the interior of the new Vios? The quality seems lacking. The three knobs at the centre console look like it's taken from some cheapo toy from pasar malam. Not only the knobs, the interior just doesn't feel as well built as the previous generation.

i dun live vios at first.the old one was like old man cars n a copy cat of altis,no identity.but wif mod the old vios can look sporty.i was sceptical of the new vios wen only seen on prints.however wen i saw the real car i say not bad.at least no need to mod to make it non ah pek car.interior wise was spacious esp i like the non protruding axle.engine was noisy coz i whack the car till 7000rpm otherwise was within tolerant limits(wat do u expect with sub $50k car).by the way toyota claims the new vios is less noisy than the old 1.in fact they made a comparison with honda city too on their car trial tests.the new vios use electrical power steering unlike the old 1.boot space is spacious.the front desk panel is bare,nothing to shout about.rear passenger height will pose a problem if u r 1.75m tall.

 

IMHO it is a good buy provided u got it b4 the launch.i believe the price was abt 1-1.5k cheaper.otherwise wif the G model u can get a made in japan car.

but expected lah, Toyota is mainly a ah pek brand, focusing on value for money, not good looks nor handling...

frankly the new VIOS is not really a VIOS while old VIOS is 'not really' not a Japanese car. not because it is not made in Japanese but rather that car is not even available for the Japanese market - probably not good enuff.

 

But the new VIOS is basically a rebadge Belta since there is no direct new development for the VIOS model and as the ASEAN budget market grows in level of sophistication, Belta fits the bill.

 

that said, I feel the old VIOS looks better in exterior. The new one is simply horrid and out of balance!

I find the old vios design to be more coherent than the current one...which looks a little like a half-hearted effort to give it a new family-face.

 

I think its not even a quarter-hearted effort as they just bring in another model and literally stick the 4 letters V-I-O-S behind it.

 

The old VIOS and new VIOS(Belta/yaris sedan) seems to be like totally 2 different series of cars from Toyota. They had already co-existed for >1 yr. [:/] Its basically a marketing strategy for them to re-name an old model and re-sell it as a brand new model and make us, the consumers, pay more $ [rifle]

IMHO, the new vios looks funny to me at first but believe me the new vios is starting to grow in me.

 

Same here Bro [grouphug][grouphug][grouphug]

 

The design has already grown on me for the past 8 months as there is a red belta in my MSCP. On top of that, I've been treating the Belta as a Belta ever since i first saw it and now to accept it as the "new" Vios, I kinda feel weird. [:/]

Both pre-fl or fl vios look so much better than the new vios.

Will not buy the new vios because of the ugly look.....

Even Subaru is coming with a 2008 "ugly" WRX.

 

Mitsubishi is the best, with sporty look in their latest model...... [sly]

hai* very dissapointed with the new vios.. very ugly...like seriously... so fat... not sporty.. last time.. people would buy a vios for it's size(small) and it's power(cause it's light) and it's sporty looks( looks sharper).. now.. the new vios spoils everything

Guess their strategy is for those who cannot afford or don't want to pay such a high road tax for a Camry then they can buy a lookalike Camry but lower engine capacity like Vios.

 

Just like the Japan Camry resembles the Lexus model so if people cannot afford the Lexus then they can buy the Camry.

Yup, the new rex looks like Mazda 3... [hur] maybe they are targeting to steal more mazda owners over...

 

 

The new Lancer looks quite fierce... I heard they coming to Sin in July...
