one day they may also impose a 3/4 tank rule for CNG cars. dun rule out the impossible. this is a so called "DEMOCRATIC" country.

To be honest, if you ask this question, the answer has to be "no".

Currently it's still quite a new thing. Early adopters like us suffer from unknown problems as mechanics do not have a wealth of experience to fall back on.

Not sure about the queues now. But if you compare CNG at $1.73 and petrol at $2(and falling), I'm not so sure if the savings are still significant.

It was significant when I did my sums prior to CNG.

read last sunday paper.. on CNG.. the que was so long and last week the station break down ( servicing ) at Jurong.. so whole island only with 1 pump station at mandai.

waiting time for pump is longer than expected.. with the price so close.. not worth convert now as the installation price still very high..!

wanted to convert but now put on hold... and tax for CNG till 2009 not confirm if will be extended.. if they say like diseal tax...then LL man..

one brother mentioned one of the converter can convert it within a week que...!!

If anyone is keen to get a CNG ride, maybe can wait for converted cars to be available in Sgcarmart. As usual, the first owner will take the first loss.

Just adopt a wait and see before committing, especially when the authority themselves seemed either no willing to commit or unsure.

As Perrier has said, hold on for now. The main deterrent is that Special Tax. The filling station is OK if you live really near to one.

I went to the Perling on on sunday. Pump pressure not so good. Only managed to get 190psi inside. Paid so little. sigh.

Seems like all msia pumps are operating at 200psi?

Actually it should be more most of the time. I pump in the morning if I got the time. The dedicated Datin Halimah station should get more.

actually so far I've always been pumping at the perling one. I roughly know where is datin halimah already. Just there there is 2 pumps along that road and I think only 1 operates 24hrs.

It's actually quite close to the stretch of petrol kiosk + fruit stalls I frequently go. But so far always rushing for time so didn't recce.

Will try soon....

cng price revert to 1.69 /kg on monday...

mandai station under servicing on monday and closed.

i dun know the closing time tho'....

if you are comtemplating to get a CNG car,

did you know?

1) CNG cars currently enjoy the "Special Tax" waiver until 2009.

CNG gas are not levied like petrol.

2)Current CNG cars enjoy 40% OMV rebate for going green. Rumours that this will be lifted during some upcoming review by LTA.

If after 2009, LTA decided to change policies to impose Special Tax on CNG cars, as CNG gas not levied like petrol, road tax for CNG cars is going to change.

I didn't know all these before making decision to change my car to CNG powered.

I really regretted! I paid 4300 extra to convert my car after 1.5 months on the road. ANd as such I don't enjoy green rebate of 40% OMV discount.

And recently, i learned about the surprise "special tax'!

Please consult the relevant authorities to make verifications, before making any decision.

The policies are constantly reviewed....

CNG installers did not inform me about the "special tax" thingy!...

I loose my boot space to the gas tank, however, the aircon became much colder...

it your choice...but do make an informed decision.
