System 6?

Has anyone here try system 6 paint protectant before? Wat is the difference between this and CS-II or any other products? Any advice?

They're all more or less the same - proctection to your paintworks. Must return to them for maintenance or else proctection no more. So my advice is go to some of our Forum's Detail Masters like Gen2, Madriver or Coltagiou once and DIY after that. Cheers!

yup I actually read up. So thats y I am figuring out wats the diff. Tuffi quoted $165 for System 6 and Unique's $260++ and tough seal $400+, 3m plastic seal think also ard $500. So much diff..Theres another nonoguard dunno the price..

All Detailers use sealant to protect the paintworks and this doesn't mean that it is 'forever' sealed. The keyword is maintenance - you could either DIY or send your ride back at intervals to the Detailer. Cheers!

Hi Ario,

3M's method uses a layer of plastic protector pasted over the whole car (like glad wrap?)

 

Nanoguard/3mendous/etc - each of them have their own "copyright" method of sealant - some claims to have teflon, some say nano technology, etc...

 

Of all, System6 seems to be the "weakest" - it is highly recommended to bring the car back to them every 3~6mths for "re-coating" (that's why the cheapest?)

 

It would be the same if you are to send it to a trustworthy detailer on a regular basis - same effect but at a lower cost + using sealant available off-the-shelve. This is also why some forumers recommended MDDS to you, but for the effort/time involved, you may consider some mobile detailers - check out comments on some of the moible detailer who post in the forum :)

here my story abt sys6.

 

1st, its foc so i took it, else no rebate; if need to pay $$, i would probably try something else

 

2nd, its reco period to re-coat is 6 mth, did that for the 1st yr, after which my ride got some body stickers so didnt follow up. now at abt 2yr 6 mth, i removed all stickers and went back for the recoat, ie after a gap of 1yr 6mth. 1. they didnt make noise( got $$ to earn wat...) 2. the job is same as earlier re-coats ... swee swee ... my point is no need to follow the schedule strictly, just depends how shiny u want ur ride.

 

3rd, its water repelling is good as new car state, now wash car once 2~3 wk, used nxt car wash, then use syn chamosis to dry... ez... swee swee done in each one step.

 

4th, probably my fault, on my bonnet got some super-duper birdie sh!t leftover marks which even after their in-house polishing also cant remove(believe at your own discretion), so its gonna be there till (i) i chg new bonnet, (ii) i chg new PPS ( not likely... since ride is close to 3yr liao)

err.. i didnt paid the 165 $, but as a PPS it works, but as the saying goes, u pay peanuts u get monkeys, so in this case u pay $165, dun expect 350$ std.

 

anyway, my comments point #2, same quality as earlier re-coats = close to new car shine. for my cxxk-eyed std only... not those super duper one.

So it all boils down to one own's expectation - NO ONE SIZE FITS ALL type of car paint protection. If you think that product or service is the best for you then....until then, it is the best! Cheers!

My car's on sys 6 the 3rd wk after collection. Let's just say the shine is not exactly the 'wet look' type but glossy nonetheless (till today - the 3rd month liao). And because my car is black, recoating is supposedly 4-6 mths' time ($50) as opposed to bi-annually for other colours. They also give u a bottle of gloss liquid for use when you wash your car. It restores the glossy look on your car after washing.

 

The common complaint for PPS is the re-coating needed and the cost. My advise is if you have the budget, go do it for 'feel good' sake. Contrary to popular sentiments, PPS doesn't mean no car washing is required...you still need to wash your car to restore the shine. And... it may even save you some money in the longer run if you compare it to DIY (where time and money is expanded).

 

For die-hard DIY devotees, plse dun throw eggs at me, just my opinion which may or may not coincide with yours and vice versa I have nothing against DIY for crying out loud
