Gear or Engine Noise

To all Kia Owners especially Ceratos, Magentis and Carens... Did you guys manage to catch a high pitch sound emitting from the gear box or engine when you're in the 3rd gear, round 60 - 80 km/hr. Have check with C&C and they claim that it's a operation noise with the new models from the gearbox and even have another similar car tested to proof it! Getting irritating from it!

what exactly is your model? cos the magentis and carens do not have manual transmission. From your description, it seems like it happen at a certain rpm range only. it could be coming from the air intake resonator box.

Mine is a magentis and it happen from the speed bout 60 -80 (3rd gear). Happen to yours too? How do you get it off?

nope...no high pitch sound on my old spectra or new cerato...

The high-pitch sound is more obvious in the Sonata.

C & C even get another Magentis to proof that it's an inherent operating sound from the differential gear... So how do you bear with it...increasing the volume of my radio?

So far no such noise for my 2006 1.4M KIA Rio

It's a CVVT and think it happen only to the Auto gearbox. Try moving from start till you hit 60+ km and you'll hear a unique high pitch til bout 80+ when it is off. The pitch will kick in again if you release your acceleration and the engine brake kick in down from 80+ til bout 60 again.

Not notice any of such noise on Cerato V2. What is your mileage? Time to change autogear oil?
