I wouldn't say sound balanced across all the same genres...that was why I said earlier I used different genre to perform a litmus test and find out just where is not right. There are also some that uses RTA and ears to tune, well, depends on your tuning understanding really.

an amp provides good clean power to drive your speakers. they can make sound deeper and richer. [:)]

thanks for the advice! in what way does an amp make the sound deeper and richer? our HU power will easily hit the limit at pleasant listening volume?

IMHO, it really depends on what speakers you are trying to drive with the HU. Drive CDT CL-61/2, Rainbow SLX, etc, still can if the HU is 50w x 4. These speakers are all in the $300+ region. These should be suitable for the limited $1k budget.

Seas Lotus Ref and Morel Supremo drive only with HU...cough cough....don't know how they will sound.

Let's put it this way, the most important aspect in any audio system is to have a balanced response across the sound reproduction. Once achieved, I think, regardless of the genre, should sound ACCURATE and TIMELY. These are the two interesting areas which continue to daunt many. wink.gif. think u can see the speaker sensitivity of the lotus ref set on www.seas.no website. as for morel supremo, i bet they have a website but if i remember correctly, the tweeter sensitivity is at least 89 or 90 db/Wm. the midbasses should be in the region of above 87-88 db/Wm.

so at about 15Wrms from some head units, they'll be playing at a combined level of about 95-96dB at ear level feeding it about 15W of power, running about 1/2 ampere current only. to me, 95-96dB is at least "pleasant listening volume". it's no disco but it works.

haiz.... its such a headache to shop for I.C.E [sweatdrop]

If i don't intend to blast my music, then is amp still really that important? [confused]

not just headache, also heartache [dizzy]

but you'll enjoy it [laugh]

After auditing Rainbow, CDT-CL61 (should sound abt the same as CL62 right [confused]), MB-Quartz, Boston and Hertz, I've come to a conclusion that Hertz generally gives a clear and warmer sound.

My plan now is to have the component focused on clarity and then use a sub-woofer to compensate for the bass. Feasible plan? [confused]

If I use a warm Italian Amp like the Audison SRx4, then can I still get relatively powerful bass? Cos I would like to blast bassy music once in a while [pirate]

Can I have relatively good bass with $100-$200 10" sub-woofer ? [confused]

The music I mostly listen to are Jazz and Pop thumbsup

Sub Mono Blk Amp Punch 300.1-$650 - A little steep it's Rockford Punch. My export set costs $360, local sets should be around $500+ region bah.

2ch Amp Astec K202-$1100 - I think you meant Steg K202, $1100 sounds OK.

Components Speakers Danish Acoustic-$750 - OK price

Custom Made Sub mureal 10"-$620 - I think you meant Morel 10", but what model? If got space, go for 12". Price difference should not be big.

Sound Proofing for 2 doors only 65 x 5 sheets-$450 - How many layers? Normal cost is $40-50 per layer per door, including labour and materials.

5. Dyna Quest 10" Subwoofer

I am offered $2700 for above. [:/]

I am newbie to ICE and need some entry set up, more towards vocal, instrumental, a bit of RnB.

Fundamental question. Do they intend to drive the Lanzar from the HU? I'm asking cos a 4ch amp cannot drive 2 pairs of speakers and a sub. Only can drive 1 pair of component and sub (sub definitely need amp to drive). That leaves with 1 pair of component to be driven from HU. Since the Lanzar is rear, I suppose they will drive it with HU.

If that's the case, drop the Lanzar as they are power hungry. The HU does not have sufficient powet to drive them properly. Chances are they will be very soft and sound out of breath. Drop the Lanzar (retain the stock rear speakers driven by HU if you want rear fill). Get the Rainbow SLX 265 or a better sub.

Cost wise should be around there if including installation and cables. The HU alone will cost around $1500-1600 already.

Oh I think it's CSX 265. It is around the same range as SLX 265 but uses alumunium coated woofer. It may be better, I'm not sure.
