I'm planning to change to a new car soon. The current car is still under my mom's name while in the future the new car will be under my name.

I need to know if for example, I've already paid for the road tax from January 2008 to June 2008, and if I were to change to a new car in March 2008, can I actually transfer the road tax? Or is there any refund of road tax for the old car?

Thanks for your advices.

Don't think it is transferable unless you are deregistering the car. Why don't you just factor in the balance remaining on your road tax in the selling price?

Unutilised portion of the road tax will be refunded by cheque once car is deregister. If deregistration is done by car dealer, then u hv to request for road tax refund before signing any document.

nope.. u hv to share common understanding with the carbuyer where this road tax $$ is gg. other than tat, u should look at the insurance rebate as well but that one is clear cut- fr ur insurer.
