Ommph Clutched September 18, 2007 Share September 18, 2007 well..from wat i see...it seem dat the portion is not meant to be pulled down. anyway, in my case, can see it is broke...coz the cushion is simply just hanging there. ↡ Advertisement
Dudemobile Neutral Newbie September 18, 2007 Share September 18, 2007 No mate, the bloody A5 doesn't have the rear centre armrest. As for my gearbox, it's a fault switch near the gearbox. Have to wait for parts from the factory. So i'll be driving, or more like parking, without rear sensors.
Fortress Clutched September 19, 2007 Share September 19, 2007 (edited) The roof is failing and the window cannot wind up. Spring under the car fell off, a/c light not working. Moeykf Neutral Newbie September 19, 2007 Share September 19, 2007 bro, my failing parts are all similar to urs. things to add on - changed my water pump, gasket, pipes, timing belt, brake switch, suspensions, brake shoe, rotors, brake pads and signal lights switch. some items i've changed more than 1 time. 140k mileage and the last thing i expect to fail is the gearbox. Fortress Clutched September 19, 2007 Share September 19, 2007 You are right, thanks for the reminder....adding on water pump, timing belt, brake rotor, front suspensions, brake pads and signal relay (3 times), air con compressor, radiator relay switches. Moeykf Neutral Newbie September 19, 2007 Share September 19, 2007 i add in one more - radiator fan. rotors and pads i changed total 4 times going for 5th in another 10k. timing belt, water pump and pipes 2 times. think its time to change car haha
Dudemobile Neutral Newbie September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 Hey Bro, timing belt, water pump and brake pads are wear and tear right? Cannot be failing as your car is close to 5yrs old right?
Moeykf Neutral Newbie September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 some might be wear and tear but imagine you have to change ur timing belt and water pump at 50k is tat called wear and tear? i still remember my rotors and pads need to be changed at every 30k. its jus too fast for jus wear and tear. Fortress Clutched September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 FYI - rotor can be skimmed to save on 1 set. Got to do with the driving style and water. Radiator fan can easily be clean instead of changing...said this before.
Fortress Clutched September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 Yes, yes, you are right. In my case, Timing belt changed was due to water pump. And brake pads was due to rotor wear.
Moeykf Neutral Newbie September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 i tried skimming the rotors but end up with alot of screeching sound produced when i step on the brakes. my radiator fan totally died down....my mechanic tried repairing but useless.... Koolaba 1st Gear September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 Do you usually: 1. wash your ride and the rims DIY after the car has cooled down for at least 30 min OR 2. send it to the hand wash services at petrol kiosks? The latter practice is a contributory factor to a shorter service life of the brake pads and rotors.
Dudemobile Neutral Newbie September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 (edited) wow, i changed my timing belt at the recommended 90k leh, and the water pump was fine and didn't change it at all till 150k. My brake disc were warped at 150k though, due to the excessive braking from high speeds, and sudden. I changed my brake pads every 60k only also. Moeykf Neutral Newbie September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 i wash once every 3 months and the car is parked for at least a day before i start washing.....as for those hand services at petrol kiosks, i gave up on them few yrs ago so i'm the only one washing the car
Moeykf Neutral Newbie September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 i think it is due to my trips to malaysia and thailand......my mechanic is also amazed why my parts tend to wear off so fast.....especially the timing belt where cracks were found in both changes. every 30k, i will get my rotors and pads change for a total of $200. every 50-60k, i will change my timing belt and pump, forgotten how much it cost. Fortress Clutched September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 The screeching sounds is due to harder compound brakes pads and possibly driving style. Mine was alright. Ha... on the fan, a standard reply, i guess a S$6 fix will not be profitable for the mechanic. ↡ Advertisement
