Silver_z 1st Gear October 15, 2007 Share October 15, 2007 $500? Your best bet is to get the new low end PS3 on the 11th of next month @ $559(inculsive of GST). Can play games on par of a $1200 PC. On top of that, can watch Blu-Ray disc. A Blu-Ray player that allows u to upgrade firmware via the internet, unlike other $1000+++ players, that requires u to return to service centre to upgrade firmware. Silver_z 1st Gear October 15, 2007 Share October 15, 2007 It comes in White. Heard got Silver, but thats hearsay only. Anyway, it will only be launch in SG on 11th Nov. It comes with a 40gb HDD. No card slots(MS Pro Duo, CF, SD and such). Less USB ports, from 4 to 2(can always add a USB hub). No backward compatibility to PS and PS2 games(if I wanna play PS2 games, I would get a Wii). All the lacks are basically useless, imo. I dun even use them except for the card slots, which can be easily rectified with a 32-in-1 card reader and plug into the USB port. Existing 60gb or 80gb HDD is nothing to shout about even, better to get this 40gb and upgrade it to 250gb, so can install Linux.
Karebu 1st Gear October 15, 2007 Share October 15, 2007 (edited) E and T number? no idea. where did you see them? i hope you are not referring to pre-packaged/'branded' pcs like HP or sony and stuff. (and i seriously dislike them) the world of pc is rather different. almost everything can be mixed and matched, unlike macs. so there isn't really a standardization/ 'E/T series(?)'. Slowmo Clutched October 15, 2007 Share October 15, 2007 $500 / mth installment maybe la Seriously, if you want to have a PC, and not sure how to build and support your own, better off getting a dell. dell warrenty is quite comprehensive and fuss free. just have to bear in mind that all the DIY gaming PCs are always end up more expensive than mass produced PCs, just because you won't want to settle for anything lesser! Also, nowadays vista quite hard to get chiong version... so you gotta consider that too.
Slowmo Clutched October 15, 2007 Share October 15, 2007 everything can be mixed and matched, but it can get quite daunting for someone who has not done extensive research and review on every single PC part.
Ruzmidah 2nd Gear October 15, 2007 Share October 15, 2007 http://forums.hardwarezone.com/showthread.php?t=1093205 Go here to have a feel for the cost. Try to get the mid range region Also jump to the last page to get some more cheaper AMD X2 systems. Alot of people there recommend PC Themes (its a shop at level 4 at the back alley lanes if i remeber correctly) for good service and pricing. I kinda like the uncles in Bell Systems (level 4 also).Very friendly. If buy a whole systeme from one shop, they can install the system for u for a cost of 10-30bucks. Try to haggle abit.
