ya. i took the KPE to PIE tuas road at 730pm and it really smooth!! super nice to drive in this sorta condition. but then in front of me so little car and i can't go more than 70km/h... a bit torturing and unusual to see car on expressway traveling at 70km/h in such a condition.

 

in fact, CTE today towards the north at 745pm was also very smooth!!! seldom encounter such a nice road condition at this time of the day! happy driving today for me!

then i guess the cars want to avoid the gantry cos it stop charging at 8pm. then the traffic jam start!

 

i don't mind paying 50cents for this smooth traveling time. more enjoyable to drive in this sorta road condition!

Oh dear, when was this changed? I always had the impression <20 km/h was only fine, no demerit points. Looks like I got to slow down from tomorrow onwards!

The ECP exit is so near Sheares Bridge, sure jam in peak hour. Another exit (PIE sim ave) sure jam.

Is there a jam at all? First tried it out ECP - Kallang (PIE towards Tuas) this evening around 6:30pm and it was absolutely smooth sailing. When are the 'jam' hours? And in which direction?

 

The KPE is a great way of bypassing the PIE towards Tuas slow traffic (from Eunos exit all the way till Kallang). But will still jam near the BKE exit!

 

As for the 70km/h speed limit, it's very clearly indicated now. Lots of warning signs. Although I could not spot any obvious cameras

 

if u try the PIE towards changi from CTE.. during that kinda timing.. jams are expected near toa payoh all the way to the eunos area..

"do not speed", "speed camera ahead" "70km/h" etc..

 

last week when i drove... I dont think i saw...

I don't know how fast I drove.. But definitely normal highway speed.. don't know got exceed 100km/h

 

then the flash super bright... i knew i kenna flashed.. but didnt know was by the speed camera.

i see.. thanks.. it's ok.. just that didnt expect to have such slow speed limit at highways..

 

frankly speaking.. to solve the traffic congestion problem, 1 way they can do is to INCREASE the speed limit.

 

come on.. in this modern world, most cars can definitely do at least 100km/h normal speed. why stick to 90km/h? so many drivers while trying to keep to the speed limit, they can step on brake pedal even when there's no cars in front. this will only casue traffic to slow down, and worse, causing accidents.

 

while some drivers can still drive at 90km/h on the 1st lane, while faster cars come behind them. at least should have the courtesy to give way to faster vehicles.. in this instance, i feel that the malaysians are doing a very good job. i love driving in malaysia more than in singapore.. as i feel that driving in singapore is so stressful.

constantly got to look out for speed trap camera, or overhead bridge laser etc.

 

notwithstanding, got to look out for road hoggers on the 1st lane. all the while, i thought it is basic courtesy, or very common sense to give way? high beam them, yet purposely going at an even slower speed..

 

having said that, maybe LTA should really consider increasing the speed limit on highways to 100km/h, if not 110km/h. this will ease the congestion.

 

One the speed limit thingy: I drove there twice. Once on 26 October evening at around 9 plus and hand across my heart, I really did not see the speed limit warning (but no use telling this forum Must make sure TP buy the story) when I travelled from ECP to PIE. Not sure if I kana already, so keeping my fingers crossed. Then on followng Tuesday, ie 30 Oct, I realised that there is a speed limit of 70km/h, so I behaved even though there were not that many cars in the tunnel.

 

One observation: don't you find the road quality sub-standard? Personally, I think the road surface is a bit uneven. Its not what I would expect from a brand new expressway. Previously I also commented about the road surface from ECP towards Changi Airport direction, the stretch from the Tanjon Katong Exit up to the Marine Parade exit, extreme right lane, ie Lane 1. The road surface is so uneven that you it feels like driving through speed regulatoing strips. Anybody feels the same?
