Amazing movie, considering the technology. I watched the midnight show last saturday (well, sunday morning). It's a movie adaptation of a very old english poem.

 

With this kind of technology, they just need the actor's voice and movements. Then the visual is just computer-generated. Maybe this is the way movies will be made in future. The lead actor is about 50 years of age, and commented that beowulf looks like him when he was 18

 

But angelina jolie does not need any CGI to help her image Watch out for the R(A) scene when she steps out of the water... As one reviewer said "i can't remember the last time i woke up in the middle of the night just to watch a cartoon..."

Quite nice for me cos I feel that the pace of the movie is just nice and certain scenes keep me tensed up for a while

 

Nice storyline too though I read somewhere that there are some alterations done to the original poem

Pretty good film. Reminds me of the saying, "Wine and women bring about the downfall of great men and nations". Guess women is one of the greatest weakness among men.

The original poem has a "break", between its description of the killing of grendel's mum (where beowulf does not bring back any evidence), and many years later, when beowulf faces the dragon in his final battle.

 

This "break" has been speculated over by many literature scholars over the years... so the film-makers just use their imagination and fill in the gaps

 

They reasoned that people in those days love to tell big, nice, boastful stories about themselves but tend to cover up the negative parts - so the gap in the original beowulf poem must've hidden something controversial which does not fit in with the "heroic" image of beowulf...

Dragon is a "yan dao" & hunky demon born out of mating with Beowulf

 

Looks like the new king will bear another freaky looking monster ...

facial expression is almost non-existence. Movement is very 'retarded'.

 

Final Fantasy was way much better than Beowulf.

 

Been a long time since i walked out of a cinema with the feeling that the movie sux...

wa lao aye.. din know its a CGI movie... thought its real one as they put the actors/actress name on the chart leh....

 

so was shock when the show started where the old king was having celebration and thought it was just a starter and waiting for them to show the real person.... and still waiting....and still waiting.... till finally give up
