Alpha78 6th Gear January 8, 2008 Share January 8, 2008 It has already been applied. It's called the COE. You can afford to pay for the COE price, you can buy your car. If you have no means, then you can't buy your car. Simple.

Fortress Clutched January 8, 2008 Share January 8, 2008 It was before that they say that C class is having the same cost as A or B wards, but it is subsidised, now they are saying that it is not...and this Mean Testing...somehow I feel the government are thinking the citizen has no memory or stupid or simply couldn't be bothered about it. Mean Testing, there is a pun to the word Mean.

Mach Clutched January 8, 2008 Share January 8, 2008 My memory may be failing me, but I seem to remember not long ago we were told to choose prudently the kind of wards we wanted to stretch our healthcare dollar, that the lower class wards were not inferior to the better ones ? Miles 4th Gear January 8, 2008 Share January 8, 2008 Actually, i support the gahment in this. They do have a point in pushing those who can afford it away from C ward. Because the C ward is really meant for the poor. The gahment dont want to pay for the rich while the poor suffer because of this selfish rich people. Imagine your father has $10 to distribute to his 10 sons... 3 of them are richer than the father while 4 are really v poor and have many children themselves to support. while the other 3 are doing ok. By fairness, he should give $10 each to all 10 sons. But he knows that the 3 who are richer than him do not need his $10, while the poor ones need more than the $10 he can spare. So, how does he do it? ... he come up with means testing to ascertain who deserves his $10. This test is by no means fool proof... it will take time to tweak it until it is near perfect. The problem is not identifying those super rich from the super poor, but those in the middle class.... those who really need it from those who just want to have it because they think they should be subsidized by the gahment without really needing it. BUT, if they over-do it,... like penalizing those middle class who needs it though outwardly, they look ok. It's a difficult balancing act... let's see how it's being done by those who are paid world class salary to do it.

Azarael Clutched January 9, 2008 Share January 9, 2008 for means testing, it is the middle class who will feel the pain the most as they will be found to be paying more for their healthcare the really rich are already going private at hospitals and specialist, this doesnt concern them at all the really poor....they have never been paying for any healthcare anyways....there are many many people who go in and out of our hospitals and specialist clinics to collect "free medicine" ...just have to visit the Medical social worker first to get a 100% medical subsidy card.....for these people, taxpayers are paying for their medical bills.....they never pay the hospital bills and these get written off at the end of each fiscal year. Skoder Neutral Newbie January 9, 2008 Share January 9, 2008 lol mean testing, such puns are a joke... My concern is HOW they test rather to why they test. Based on where u stay in the past to measure income is purely an insult to their intelligence, or the lack of it.... ↡ Advertisement
