  2. As above ... Met a SJE Altis (metallic greyish green) 3 cars (including mine at last) travelling at 120km/h on Lane 1 along KJE, with about 1 car length in between each other. Then I saw a fast coming Altis from rearview mirror. It tried to cut to lane 2, but a slower moving car was there, thus it cut back to lane 1 behind me. Then it cut to lane 2 again, but got close to mine at side. Next moment at 3/4 Altis length ahead of me, he signalled and cut in front of me. at 120km/h (some may say not fast etc) with abt 1 car length, I had to tap brake. But I gave hi-beam & honk. When I caught up with it at a traffic, I went towards it and told the driver how could he cut in just like that ... he said he signalled, and I only honk & hi-beam after he cut ... then the typical arguement errupted ... he then say he in rush thus no time to talk to me, unduly Singaporean. If want I can go report police! I told him signal means big deal and can go as wish ? So signal is really big F, that one can do anything after singalling? I took 2 pic of his lic plate, but unfortunately effort very blur. But I bet he could remember my plate as mine was much more easier to remember ... stay tune in MCF, for this "atas" uncle may put an complaint thread here against me ...

  4. The Straits Times www.straitstimes.com Published on Feb 16, 2012 http://www.straitstimes.com/print/Breaking...ory_767123.html WP has let Hougang voters down: PM Lee Hsien Loong PAP chairman Khaw questions WP's 'sudden U-turn' in Yaw saga By Janice Heng The Workers' Party (WP) has let down the voters of Hougang in its handling of Mr Yaw Shin Leong's alleged extramarital affair, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on Wednesday. Mr Yaw was the WP's MP for Hougang constituency until his expulsion from the party on Wednesday left the seat vacant. Under the law, the Prime Minister decides whether to call a by-election. Mr Lee said he would consider the issue carefully. 'Now, the Hougang SMC (single-member constituency) seat is vacant, as a result of what Mr Yaw Shin Leong has done, and the way the WP has handled the matter,' he said in a statement to the media. 5. Correct my understand of READY. Ready means its not implemented yet? I fear such statement as Ready for what is to come. Anyone knows what is ready to come in 2012? Come celestial dragon being is going to ascend to havens? Such cryptic message. Haiz. By Sophie Hong my paper Monday, Feb 06, 2012 SINGAPORE - Even though the economy will be challenging this year, the Government is prepared, said Mr Chan Chun Sing, Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, yesterday. "I want to assure you that the Government is ready to work with everybody to take care of everybody," he said. Last month, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also said Singapore is "ready for what is going to come" in the Year of the Dragon. Mr Chan was speaking to about 1,500 residents at a Chinese New Year event in Buona Vista. During the event, nine needy and elderly residents received a free wheelchair or walking stick from the Senior's Mobility Fund, which is administered by the Agency for Integrated Care. Mr Chan, who gave out the mobility aids, added that, beyond the festivities, it was vital to have such initiatives to help residents in need.

  10. Well, that seems to be the latest definition. Even the reporter also think so apparently. You can watch the video and verify from the speech by the PM from 02:255 to 02:59: http://www.straitstimes.com/GeneralElectio...ory_659474.html Go to the Razor video and take note that at 02:55, he mentioned that 2/3 of the managerial & professional positions goes to SINGAPOREANS. Unless the word SINGAPOREAN nowadays in the RP context includes both citizens & SIngapore residents, I have nothing to say. Then again see how his speech on this is mentioned in the same web page(highlighted in blue with sized 7 font for 02:55 portion) : Foreign workers help create good jobs for S'poreans: PM By Cassandra Chew and Chua Hian Hou In his speech, Mr Lee noted that six in 10 of the employees are 'Singaporeans and permanent residents'. Singapore residents also take up two-thirds of the managerial and professional positions, he added. -- ST PHOTO: CHEW SENG KIM FAR FROM being disadvantaged, Singaporeans have benefitted from good jobs created by the Government's policy of allowing in a 'controlled' number of foreign workers, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on Thursday. The policy has also attracted foreign investments to Singapore, said Mr Lee, speaking at the official opening of IMFlash's US$3 billion high tech electronics plant, one of the biggest electronics investments here. The Woodlands plant, a joint-venture between technology giants Intel and Micron, currently employs 1,200 staff. IMFlash's managing director Chen Kok Sing said the plant, the only wafer fab in Singapore to produce the memory chips used in many popular electronic items like smartphones and tablet computers, will have 1,500 staff by next year. In his speech, Mr Lee noted that six in 10 of the employees are 'Singaporeans and permanent residents'. Singapore residents also take up two-thirds of the managerial and professional positions, he added. For every one foreign worker, we have created 1.5 local jobs in this project,' he said. 'Without the foreign workers, we would not have attracted this US$3 billion investment, and Intel and Micron would have built its wafer fab elsewhere. But by allowing in a controlled number of foreign workers, far from disadvantaging Singaporean workers, we have created more good jobs for Singaporeans,' said Mr Lee. The Government's foreign worker policy could emerge as a hot-button issue this election as some believe that it has hurt residents' job prospects and depressed wages. 12. I have been organising singles meetup for my Facebook friends for few months already and generally, I do not allow 'married' people into my singles event. But recently, a guy messaged me, saying he is 'separated' and ask whether he can turn up for my singles events. I just want to check with the folks here on the legal status of 'separated'. Does 'separated' means: (1) one is still married but just waiting for divorce, or (2) one is not considered married but not divorced also, i.e. like an intermediate stage
  13. COE quota for Aug-Jan is 23,063 By Saifulbahri Ismail | Posted: 12 July 2010 1329 hrs Photos 1 of 1 Traffic in Singapore SINGAPORE: The Certificate of Entitlement (COE) quota for vehicles will be 23,063 for the six months from August to January. This means a monthly quota of 3,844, which is about 400 fewer vehicles than the last quota period. From April to July this year, the monthly quota was 4,238. These numbers are based on a new calculation which takes into account the actual number of cars taken off the road. The COE quota consists of provision for 1.5 per cent vehicle growth based on the vehicle population as at end of 2009, which was 902,337. It also takes into consideration replacement COEs for vehicles de-registered between January and June this year and adjustment for over estimations of vehicle de-registration in 2008 and 2009. The next COE quota announcement for the COE bidding period from February to July 2011 will be made in January next year. - CNA/ir

  15. At least once in your life - maybe even once a week or once a day for that matter - you have fantasized about coming into a lot of money. What would you do if you were worth millions or even billions? Believe it or not there are millionaires and billionaires among us who masquerade as relatively normal, run-of-the-mill people. Take a peek at some of the most frugal wealthy people in the world. Warren Buffett Millions of people read Buffett's books and follow his firm, Berkshire Hathaway's, every move. But the real secret to Buffett's personal fortune may be his penchant for frugality. Buffett, who is worth an estimated $47 billion, eschews opulent homes and luxury items. He and his wife still live in their modest home in Omaha, Nebraska which they purchased for just $31,500 more than 50 years ago. Although he's dined in the best restaurants around the globe, given the choice he would opt for a good burger and fries accompanied by a cold cherry Coke. When asked why he doesn't own a yacht he responded "Most toys are just a pain in the neck." (Find out how he went from selling soft drinks to buying up companies and making billions of dollars. Carlos Slim While most of the world is very familiar with Bill Gates, the name Carlos Slim rarely rings a bell. But it's a name worth knowing. Slim, who is a native of Mexico, was just named the world's richest billionaire
