Novicej Neutral Newbie February 21, 2008 Share February 21, 2008 I got the touch cruise the 1st day it was launched. (BTW I don't sell HTC...) Pro: -Overall, very good, have not hang so far. -gps took 2 second to activate, using mapking bundled in 1 free map - include car hp holder, car charger, wired ear piece Cons: -battery drain fast if activate wireless, otherwise ok. - cannot sms without looking at screen. - I need to put in more effort to call people.- touch interface no physical keyboard, but htc does provide 4 vitual input interface. overall assesment: Except for sms and phone call, this device does it's job well especially the gps - very accurate and fast. Hatch_lover Neutral Newbie February 21, 2008 Share February 21, 2008 Just got this baby last week too. Was using Nokia N95 and Palm TX previously but decided to switch to this phone to reduce the use of 1 device. Generally quite happy with the phone thus far except for:- 1) Still and Video Camera performance vis-a-vis N95 (The Nokia's camera performance is still the best for a phone.) 2) Stock GPS Software of N95 (Asiamaps) easier to use. 3) Slower web browsing via 3.5G network even with Opera Mini than using Nokia's own web browser. What I like about the Cruise:- 1) 1 less gadget to carry as I dun use the Palm anymore. 2) More PPC s/w to play with than S60. Palm also has s/w but dun dare to buy as not sure future of Palm. 3) Better battery life than N95 4) Bigger screen-> greater satisfaction when surfing (but have to wait longer for pages to load) 5) Better PIM synchro as 1 less gadget (most important to me as I used to keep my appts and tasks list in 3 separate location, phone, PDA and laptop). 6) Love the multiple input system of PPC. Used to use HP6365, hated the mini virtual keyboard. The cruise has a Transcriber (not sure if its unique to HTC or all PPC nowadays has it already) which allows one to just write on the screen as you would write on paper and it will be `typed' out, cool. But that means like no one handed operations. For 1-handed operation, there is a virtual touch keypad (somewhat like the P1i dual key-board system) or a virtual touch keypad that acts like a real keypad and you can type alphanumeric characters. But you have to look at the screen as its not very sensitive and u may type wrongly. 7) Love the Touch-Flo skin. Although it slows the system a fair bit, i simply love it. All in all, I'm very happy with the Cruise and i'm more than willing to trade the -ve points because of the postives. It will stay with me until another phone can offer the same as the Cruise but with better camera functions, or better, HTC should come out with a better still and video camera Touch Cruise. Novicej Neutral Newbie February 21, 2008 Share February 21, 2008 I agree that mapking registration can be confusing, but i managed to figured it out. I don't have difficulty in terms of operating with it. Its accurate and fast. For the wireless try this -> By default, i find the page loading unacceptable in opera. But there is a setting to set the best performance at the expense of batt power. After that, loading at opera is much faster. (go start-> settings -> connection tab ->wireless lan -> power mode tab. Then best performance.) The hand writing recognition just doesn't work very well for me. I have problems with some characters like k. So the fastest way for me is to use that virtual keyboard, which very surprisingly, works using my finger on that 3mm square.
