Vextan 1st Gear September 4, 2009 Share September 4, 2009 i think if there is a GE now, likely they will garner higher than 66.6% , given the recovery of the economy in sight and the expected carrots to be dangled. ↡ Advertisement
Mr_b20 6th Gear September 4, 2009 Share September 4, 2009 if GE now, there is a chance they might suffer the same fate as Japan thats why maybe delay for now
Altivo 3rd Gear September 4, 2009 Share September 4, 2009 hence the statement from old man that there will be safeguards in place should a freak election results happen. He is telling you not to be funny
Jacf Neutral Newbie September 4, 2009 Share September 4, 2009 prob now there's seem to be quite some pent up frustrations among the ppl... end of day, we'll still dun know which way the votes will goes until the moment of truth.. but i do know for sure now who gonna get my vote for the next GE - tat is if my ward ever get contested! Damienic 5th Gear September 4, 2009 Share September 4, 2009 if GE now, there is a chance they might suffer the same fate as Japan thats why maybe delay for now That will not happen. Singaporeans will just complain here complain there, but at end of the day many will still give their vote to the incumbent on polling day..I think their votes will drop but to lose a GRC alone will take a miracle to happen let alone suffer same fate as Japan's previous govt.. Espire 1st Gear September 4, 2009 Share September 4, 2009 Given the current ground sentiment, is it possible for them to hit more than 66.6%? it all depends on the "redrawn boundaries" and the integrity of the oppositions... and not to forget the "walkover zones"
Alechi 2nd Gear September 4, 2009 Share September 4, 2009 Anything in 50 - 60% range and big alarm bells will ring
Scenic98 Clutched September 4, 2009 Share September 4, 2009 i think we do not want to see a complete change of govt overnite. but we should try to get more opposition voice in there. i think WP and the Reform Party will put up some good challenge this time round. And i think we will see more PMETs stepping up to be in the opposition rather than slipper man and taxi drivers (no offense in any way to the taxi profession)

Tanks09 Neutral Newbie September 4, 2009 Share September 4, 2009 Frankly speaking, the 66.6% is not an all-important number. I do think that they will be returned to power on Nomination Day. And the rest is just formality. No matter what people say or think or complain, everyone knows deep down in their heart that in times of crisis, only THEY can lead us to recovery. Vextan 1st Gear September 4, 2009 Share September 4, 2009 if going by the general sentiment in the internet and forums, the figure for the ruling party is not optimistic, but for those elders who are not internet savy, they are unlikely to be lured to the other side or influenced. like my parents are die hard supporters. As long as the opposition can fill in more good candidates like the last election, they will definately able to get higher percentage for the coming election. No matter what people say or think or complain, everyone knows deep down in their heart that in times of crisis, only THEY can lead us to recovery. ya right, deep inside everyone heart, we don't want our ward to become opposition, but we do want to see other ward to become opposition. Reasons being good property price, good schools, good amenities, good area maintenance, got upgrading. Yes, we are selfish lot, call it kiasu or whatever, "THEY" know our weaknesses. Let's admit it, we have no integrity, although most of us gone thru NS. Just leave it to faith. Amen. ↡ Advertisement
