Keith976 Neutral Newbie March 17, 2008 Share March 17, 2008 Does short shift mean a shorter shift stick or a short throw shifter? Does anyone know? Thanks! ↡ Advertisement
Ody_2004 Turbocharged March 17, 2008 Share March 17, 2008 I belive it is Short Throw. Cutting the stick make it look good only. Cut too short may miss gear shift at times.
Keith976 Neutral Newbie March 17, 2008 Author Share March 17, 2008 Hi bro, sold ur car yet? Nice car u got. My shift stick was roughly sawn off at the top without re-threading n the knob was juz plugged on. I've seen pics of short shifters tat looks juz like a shorter stick n was wondering how it can be so mechanically simple. Do u know if short throw shifter for starlet is still available? Yc86 Clutched March 17, 2008 Share March 17, 2008 Short shift means a shorter throw. Have to change the pivot point, i.e the whole shifter. Cutting short does reduce the throw alittle, but it feels weird having such a short stick. I believe the height of the shifter should be as near to the bottom of the steering to minimize time spent moving the hand. A true short throw shift with a long shift stick is ideal.. Ody_2004 Turbocharged March 17, 2008 Share March 17, 2008 Yes i sold my starlet to a nice uncle recently. If you look closely at a real short shifter, you can notice that the angle of the stick is different from stock. Starlet short shifter i believe you can only get used from bro selling theirs. Audirs4 1st Gear March 18, 2008 Share March 18, 2008 Yes I believe it is short throw or some call it quick shift. I had installed it to my Mini and make the gear change quicker. Good stuff !
