Azarael Clutched June 8, 2008 Share June 8, 2008 true true. personally the 4 cyclinder in line in the 320 is sufficent for most people who are looking to own their first blue and white propeller. what is very attractive to me is the high OMV and the RWD of the 320i. if u wanted a nice entry level car that the missues can also drive, adequate room in the back for kids/parents, and u mainly like cars to go from A to B, with some snob value, then u can't go very wrong with a basic 320i bmw. the E90 really looks nicer though with the facelift. if u are a driving purist or a person who appreciates cars and engineering technology, AND u have tasted IL-6 or V6 smoothness before, then it will be really hard for u to stomach the 4 pot...cos bmw is all about IL-6 engines. Azarael Clutched June 8, 2008 Share June 8, 2008 (edited) really? i think the C class sales is slowing down. Otherwise C&C wouldnt reduce the price of the C80 and C200. And their 1st 2 shipments were sold out, but 3rd shipment still have ex stock. Anyway, 3 series is facing fierce competition from C class, IS250 and the new A4. Especially from IS250. PML needs the facelifted 3 series to arrive badly. the C class is still overpriced.....wait a while longer....economic downturn, riots in other countries, price of petrol/diesel going up in malaysia.....the recession will be here and we wont even know it...... luxury goods and products will take a beating slowly but surely conserve your ammunition guys..... wait for the price of the merc/3series to drop further Edited June 8, 2008 by Azarael
Check13 3rd Gear June 8, 2008 Share June 8, 2008 agree. i seriously hope recession will come soon but don't know why, our dear govt kept saying it wouldn't come. hidden agenda....
inlinesix Hypersonic June 8, 2008 Share June 8, 2008 There will b slowdown but not recession. Juz look @ how many building projects is running now. Any downturn in manufacturing will be adequately offset by these projects. End of OT.
Miles 4th Gear June 9, 2008 Author Share June 9, 2008 not forgetting the gov's huge $5b IT project (cant remember the code name).... to upgrade all gov's system (especially email which is on lotus notes), which is contracted to EDS. this i believe is to help boost the economy and beat the potential recession. Azarael Clutched June 28, 2008 Share June 28, 2008 (edited) true the 320i will suffice for most of your needs, but seriously speaking, it's not going to be "the ultimate driving machine" as it calls itself. for 127K which will pay for a 4 pot bmw 320, do u know AT THE SAME PRICE u can get a fire breathing Honda Accord 3.5L V6 with all the works that will utterly destroy most contis ? ] Of course u will be the laughing stock of all when it comes to the paying of the road tax...... the guy driving the VG Golf 1.4 TSI will have the last laugh.... Wtee Neutral Newbie July 13, 2008 Share July 13, 2008 (edited) Maybe Toyota Camry is not a fair comparison. But check out the Mercedes from Cycle& Carriage. C200 Kompressor (A) $154,888 1.8 litre supercharged inline 4 Power 184 bhp Torque 250 Nm Acceleration 8.8s (0-100kmh) C230 (A) $176,888 2.5 litre normally-aspirated V6 Power 204 bhp Torque 245 Nm Acceleration 8.6s (0-100kmh) Not sure if the C230 has the 7G-tronic gearbox, which does help a lot in acceleration times, or maybe SGcarmart got their stats wrong, ie:- look at the E230 acceleration stats below with same engine and heavier body. Difference is $22,000, not cheap but half of the price difference between 320i and 325i. Assuming it is a typo on SGcarmart's part and the C230's performance is actually 2 seconds faster than the C200k as per the comparison between E200K and E230, it would be a sweet deal. For the E class, the higher spec version costs only a little more: E200 K New Generation Avantgarde (A) $181,888 1.8 litre supercharged inline 4 Power 184 bhp Torque 250 Nm Acceleration 9.4s (0-100kmh) E230 New Generation Avantgarde (A) $193,888 2.5 litre normally aspirated V6 Power 204 bhp Torque 245 Nm Acceleration 7.3s (0-100kmh) 7 g-tronic gearbox Difference is a mere $12,000 for a whopping 2 second faster acceleration plus a superior engine and gearbox. If I were in the market for E class, I would definitely choose the E230 over the E200k. So how does PML justify the huge price difference between 320i and 325i? The 320i and 323i comparison is out because it is the 325i that has the 2 second 0-100kmh acceleration advantage over the 320i. 323i is just a detuned 325i. FYI, 520i - in line 4, 156 bhp, 2 litre, 10.6 sec = $170,800.00 525i Highline - in line 6, 218 bhp, 2.5 litre, 7.9 sec = $197,800.00 523i - not bringing in anymore.
