Steel braided hoses

Changing to SSBH is part of enhancing the braking feel but not really necessary, there are other area U need to replace to truly experience good braking capability, brake kits, brake pads, rotor, etc..

Hi, I totally agree with you.

 

As far as brake hoses are concerned, they are only hydraulic hoses.

 

For improved braking, the only way to go are improving the brakes themselves.

Would like to find out the opinions of the bros here if steel braided hoses is necessary for a normal car? Does it really make a lot of difference between steel braided hoses and normal ones?

if u want to change, get a branded good one... dun get those cheapo brands coz braking is important and i think u know why..hehe

 

confirm better braking esp with it and even better if you get better performance brake pads for 0-400 degrees type. NOT those for up to 800 degrees...they wont bite till temp goes to 500-600. they are meant for track use...

 

one thing to note is that many people thought that S/S brake line can last 5-10years...actual fact is that it is advisable to check often after 2 years as the trap dirt coz cause it to fail and its hard to identify damage inside. ideally change every 2.5 years.

It do enhance some efficiency. Can try to change after 2 yrs usage of yr current stock brake hose, to optimise yr current hose usage lor.

In so far as steel braided hose, goodridge is the brand to go for.

 

Reputable and quality is good.

 

In my opinion, steel braided hose improves the braking pedal touch only.

 

If one really wants to improve the braking performance, get a good set of tyres and be a safe driver (including keeping a safe distance from the vehicles in front).

 

I personally invest in a set of good tyres and grippy brake pads (higher friction coefficient for better grip) for my front and rear wheels. The rest of my brake system are totally stock. I keep a habit of changing my brake fluid (OE brand is good enough) once a year or once every 2 years to maintain the brake system. This is good enough for me and for my tracks.

especially in the wet when you have to jam brake.

 

The worse tyres for stopping in the wet is eco tyres.

 

No point saving money trying to get a few more miles

 

per gallon and then spending big buck cos couldn't

 

stop in time and losing the NCB and paying the excess.

To stop as quickly as possible in the wet

 

forget new Eco contis and get some

 

used damaged tyres and stop faster

 

as much as 13 meters shorter.
