Hello everyone.

1. Current generation Kia Magentis engine = Previous generation Kia Magentis engine?

Previous generation model refers to the one with the older body type.

Went to Kia Singapore website, but no information on engine codes.

2. Current generation 2.0L engines:

Kia - Magentis, Carens, Sportage

Hyundai - Sonata, Trajet FL, Tucson

Are they all using the SAME engine?

Thanks!

1. Current Kia Magentis IS NOT SAME as Previous Generation Kia Magentis, Current Kia Magentis is using the same engine as the Current Hyundai Sonata but Kia has further done ECU tuning and it is better than current Hyundai Sonata.

2. Current 2.0 litre CVVT engine = Kia Magentis, Carens

Previous 2.0 litre CVVT engine = Kia Sportage, Hyundai Trajet and Tucson

Hope the above clear your doubts.

im thinking of getting a "filler" car right now. that is, to get a car that can be used for 2 to 3 years, comfortable (read 2.0L) and is value for money (read Korean cars).

2-3 years later, ill get a "real car" that i won't mind paying a little bit more premium on.

also, looking for something now that is maximum $40,000. that's my budget for $0 downpayment OTR, $40,000 loan for 4 years at about 2.8% interest/annum.

something that can fit the above requirement thereabouts is the Hyundai Tucson 2.0L, probably a mid-2005 model.

im a fan of the current generation Kia Magentis. issues are that there are only a handful on the road, so a used one will be difficult to find.

also, they're pretty new, so in the high $40+k or low $50+k region. while depreciation is acceptable, it will disrupt my cashflow. of course, i can increase my loan duration, but that would affect my purpose of getting a "filler" car for now while i wait out to get a so-called dream car in the next 2 or 3 years ... thus the enquiry on the previous generation Kia Magentis engine.
