It had been a hectic week, with meetings and parties... now back home and relaxing the holiday away and looking forward to a quiet weekend....

During time in Manila, did went into Metro Manila itself, for some research and at same time took in some sights.....

Manila is an overcrowded city, full of people and you will experience frequent traffic jams which can be bad at times....

DSC00364.jpg

DSC00383.jpg

These are contributing to the jams....

What research was I doing in town??? well look at these...

You might be asking, what are these people looking for.... well, this place is nicknamed "flesh market". It is an area call Luneta, where labour agencies set up booth to offer jobs. With the shortage of trained personnel in my segment of the labour market, every agency is upping their price to attract qualified person to work for them. It is now an employee rather then a employer's market.....

A sample of some of the jobs advertised and salaries expected...

And Hiphiphooray, this is for you...

After market reasearch, did some sights.....

Along the way saw the venerable Manila Hotel, which is the snooty snooty Raffles Hotel equivalent in Manila...

DSC00384.jpg

There was some festval going on in the convention centre....

DSC00365.jpg

This is the famous Rizal Park, where the National Hero of the Philipines was buried...

DSC00382.jpg

Our destination was Fort Santiago, which was where the National Hero was jailed before he was executed, when the country was fighting for independence from the Spanish....

This is a fort built by the Spanish in colonial times to protect the city of Manila... protection from foreign invaders.... which almost always involve river mouths, (Malacca if you know your history is same same)...

Here is the Pasig River, which is the entrance to the city in the old days...
