Yeah agreed that at slow speeds whatever beading also pointless as the beads just stick around the windscreen and hinder vision still. [crazy]

Yeah man, claimed a new windscreen from insurance [blush]. Anyway I also reinstated the cover for the remaining of that year. So can say I paid $70+ to get a new windscreen! [cool][:p]

The M'sian "rain-x" I got is called "Rain-On" (Caption reads "you'll love driving in the rain"). Got it from a free-lance salesman in Sim Lim Tower car park, comes with free demo even! I find it quite good, it's in a pressurised can, just spray on, let dry, and wipe off.

Blessing in diguise? So you claim the free windscreen from your insurance? [:)]

Malaysian "Rain-X"??? Perma Glass issit?

So how you intend to solve the problem? Going to lub the wiper mechanism or try to wipe off the "rain-x" or... [crazy] changing windscreen [crazy] ?

Just JIF-ed my windscreen while washing car yesterday so no chance to test in the rain yet. Was recommended CARPLAN windscreen polish by a friend which I'll try next.

Thinking of getting a bottle on concentrated windscreen washer fluid to wipe the wiper blades as well......at least these are a couple of $$ solutions, worth a try before asking someone to......."ooops! sorry broke your windscreen leh". [:p]

Use it concentrated on the screen...becareful not to spill on the paintwork.

Use a piece of tissue to wipe it on and then followed by a moist towel to clean it off.

Use a bit on the wiper blade too....its helps !!! [:)]

Okie, I'll try it concentrated. Yeah stuff like this (pure alcohol?) and coolant can tarnish paintwork instantly.....that's why I am double precautious when handling these chemicals [;)]

I know how frustrated u feel. I had that problem and tried everything.

Finally fixed it after consulting KAH motor. They said that it is because of silicon deposits from so-called "car care" products .. and it cannot be removed as it bonds with the glass.

They fixed my problem by using a product called Scratch Hog which removes a very thin layer of glass off the windscreen.

I have no idea where to buy Scratch Hog -- they told me it cost S$100 for a small bottle and the supervisor bought it .. and he wasn't around.

If anyone finds out where to buy Scratch Hog, please post here. Thanks.

Sounds damn silly but I used to use plastic scratch removal for my wind screen. It kinda brighten the wind screen. Clearer vision too.

A soap solution and a used green piece (stuff used in the kitchen) and a good scrub on the windscreen always work for me.

I used to encounter this problem with rain-x wearing out and the jerking wiper on screen. I used scrub it with soap, either car washing solution or washing detergent and walla problem solved.

The rough pad should be seasoned so as not to scratch the glass unnecessary, Normally I rub hard in a circiluar motion with the shampoo or soap solution, sometimes I application and after testing still have jerking so a second and a third cleaning follows. If this does'nt help. Then must learnt from others liao, use special chemical cleaning agent or maybe the blades itself got problem.
