Integrated GPS and Standalone GPS device, which do you prefer?

1. For those cars that don't come default with a built-in GPS HU, would you buy an aftermarket HU with integrated GPS or would you prefer a standalone one?

 

2. Correct me if I'm wrong, in an integrated GPS, once you use it, you will not be able to listen to music and watch video.

Using a PDA phone with Mapking and a Holux receiver.

same here, using qstarz gps receiver with ppc phone. i can put the receiver in my backpack during trekking and record my position at pre defined interval and link the lat/long with google earth later.

The optional gps for Alpine is damn expensive,so i bot the garmin 300,but since i sold it away...now using N82 for navigation purpose

Using a PDA phone with Mapking and a Holux receiver.

 

1. Oh yeah, under standalone unit, there are the portable one and the PDA based one. I find PDA GPS screen small and difficult to look at. Of course, if you have a good voice guidance add-on, it will be easier too.

 

2. I like my GPS device to be large but not to the extend of 7" in screen width.

 

3. One more thing is, my PDA is doubling up as a car tracker device so don't like the idea of putting too many software in it.
