Usual tips:

1) Dun carry excessive weight

2) Over-inflate tyres by abt 10%

3) Dun speed (wind resistance/aerodynamics more optimal at lower speeds)

4) Parts due for change? Not working efficiently hence the higher FC

Hope this helps.

Try checking the following:

Oil filter

Engine oil

Air Filter

----------------

Next will be

trottle body

intake manifold

----------------

if everything is in working condition

change engine oil brand..

sometimes it affects. my 1.4getz getting around 11-12 so i dun think urs will be so drastic deprovement.

Check and replace if necessary ;

- Air Filter

- Spark plugs (ensure correct heat range)

- Engine Oil

- Oil Filter

- Throttle body

- Fuel Filter

- Tire pressure

Is the engine feeling lethargic with noticeable loss of power? If so, that may be the main cause of the high FC. Get a mech to do a thorough check. The above checklist is what I usually go through when my FC suddenly increases by a big margin. Normally, a change of air filter, oil filter & oil, and new plugs will solve it.

Not really. Have a few friends who own Getz, from 1.1 to 1.6, all report that they're a little FC heavy, but still manageable. At 7.8km/l like the TS, one might as well be driving a Colt Version R, or perhaps a WRX. At least those owners get greater performance & possibly more driving fun out of the same amount of petrol.

I believe you are using wrong F.C calculation

should not be 350/45 lah, are you sure before every filling you drain dry your fuel tank[laugh] [laugh]

if you based on fuel empty light, normal the light on when 10L remaining, so your FC should be 350/35=10km/l [thumbsup]

I'm driving a 1.3A Getz, it's ok, getting about 11.5-12km/l (60% highway, 40% city). Most impt is, control right foot + driving style. I have friends who floored the pedal for the Getz too, and can 'achieve' the 7.x to 8km/l mentioned...

As far as I know, Hyundai cars tend to be fuel rich, in terms of air-fuel ratio. can afford to run slightly leaner, which shd save some petrol, but needs to re-tune the ECU, and affects warranty. this is my experience with Hyundai Coupe 1.6M from 2000 to 2004.
