Aspri Clutched June 15, 2003 Share June 15, 2003 (edited) Just came back Nissan showroom to have a look at the new Sunny. I would prefer it over the Corolla (personal preference so no flames please), Lancer and similar Japanese 1.6 cars (except Scooby which holds a special place in my heart ). I think it has taken on a more conti feel to the car which suits me just fine. Too lazy to scan the photos from the brochure but here's some specs. Engine: QG16DE (DOHC, 16v, 4cyc, inline) Max Power: 81kW/6000rpm or 110ps/6000rpm Max Torque: 148Nm/4000rpm or 15.1kg-m/4000rpm Curb Weight: 1110/1140/1145 for the 3 flavors (below) Rubber: 185/65R15 3 flavors of the car: EX Saloon, Super Saloon and Luxury Edition. Here's the difference (the ones I can see). Super Saloon over EX Saloon - Twin airbags (EX only 1) - Leather (EX can retrofit for 300 bucks extra) - Sports rims - Fog lamps Luxury over Super Saloon - Mercedes style signal lights on side view mirrors - Hand brakes is MPV style (step kind) - Side turn signal lamps - Rear armrest with cup holders - Overhead console box - Fron cup holders Safety also quite impressive. Triple A safety ratings. ABS, BA, EBD standard. Pricing is decent but I think lower is better (don't we all) Disclaimer: FYI, I'm not Nissan SE! Just sharing only. Modeldriver Neutral Newbie June 15, 2003 Share June 15, 2003 Is it a major 'redesign' or minor face lift ?
Epsilon 2nd Gear June 15, 2003 Share June 15, 2003 i think it is just a face life with minor 'redesign'.....
Aspri Clutched June 15, 2003 Author Share June 15, 2003 Think QG16DE is new engine? Previously it's B14?
Hc1883 Neutral Newbie June 15, 2003 Share June 15, 2003 Hi Aspri, Saw 2 trailers with 12 new Nissan Sunnys in total on board, along the BKE 2 days back. Think they were heading for the Tan Chong showroom along Bukit Timah. The overall facelift of the Sunny looked quite okay except that I thought the rear of the facelift Sunny looked too much like the current Hyundai Elantra. Don't you guys think so? Understand also that the prices range from between S$77K (EX version) to S$84K (Super Luxury version). Quite competitive with offerings from Toyota, Honda and Mitsubishi. Epsilon 2nd Gear June 15, 2003 Share June 15, 2003 the engine is the same.....except i think the different is the manifold....nissan did some changes to it....to improve the low end...
Aspri Clutched June 15, 2003 Author Share June 15, 2003 Haven't done enough research to dispute that so I won't try to rebute on that point. Maybe someone with a better idea can shed some light on that one. The power and torque has obviously changed and also it's no longer throttle by wire (the new model uses electrical throttle). Aspri Clutched June 15, 2003 Author Share June 15, 2003 I almost bought the new Accent and I thought the kacheng looks quite ok to me so I'm not aversed to the new Sunny's rear. There's a small correction to be made to the pricing. The SS costs 84k not the LE version. The LE version costs 86k. I do think it's very competitive that's why I'm sharing this information with the folks here. There's a more conti feel to the car now due to Renault's involvement and I think it's buzzing positive now. I think the SS is very good for most of us except the uncles and ah peks who will prefer the LE. BTW, why never hijack the 2 trailers?
Epsilon 2nd Gear June 15, 2003 Share June 15, 2003 this is what the nissan SE told me........SE also ask me to trade in my sunny....but .....
Aspri Clutched June 15, 2003 Author Share June 15, 2003 Yeah, the SE also trying to psycho me to trade in my Sunny but I said I consider. Never let them know you are gan jiong. Must hang up to sell especially now car prices on the rise . I can wait till it starts the fall then go in at the right time. Now new cars must drive longer due to current system so shouldn't rush into anything.

A friend who drives the 1.6SS went for the test drive last week and seems like the new sunny is more responsive to the throttle. Must go try... Hc1883 Neutral Newbie June 16, 2003 Share June 16, 2003 Guess I might have overlooked the pricing there between the SS and the LE versions...... As for the looks, it's only my personal preference so no offence there, bro. I would have done so if I can get away without running afoul of the law...... ↡ Advertisement
