Evillusion Supersonic April 15, 2019 Share April 15, 2019 (edited) Must see in context of Sunni or Shia followers.....you can wiki if you like. In Sunni Islam, Imam is the leader in any congregation can be congregational prayers....at home the father or son can be the imam leading the family during prayers. In the mosque the imam is appointed by the mosque and sometime by invite (usually well-known cleric). Imams are usually the graduates from the many Islamic Unis and they have memorised the whole or majority of the Surahs (verses) by heart as the surahs are needed to be recited during the prayers. During the Ramadhan prayers the imam would usually finish all the verses in just 1 month..... The agong is the religion's and nation's figurehead. If he attends the congregational prayers he will usually sits just behind or a bit behind but next to the imam. The Agong can be the imam if he wants to but with most of them being western educated and trained, its best to leave the duty to one who is more learned in Islamic studies. The Imam's recitations, pronunciation and knowledge of the AlQuran and hadits should be the best amongst the congregation...... Dont ask me about Imam in Shia theology though......its very different from AhliSunatwaljamaat (Sunni).
