Hi all,

I have been hearing people saying change car every 3 years since after 3 years no more warranty, but is it really worth to do so?

The world's greatest Singapore Con Job. Even if you die die go back to AD for servicing, and they chop carrot, it is still cheaper than buying a new car just for the warranty.

From a $ viewpoint, NO

That is the point I try to point out, it is definitely not worth it and we are conned into believing it so.

crazy...how much the warranty worth?

In fact if you look at the car price at sgcarmart carefully, less than 3 year old and above 3 years old, the diff can be quite big and one car dealers told me it is due to warranty [sweatdrop]

your example shows $30K lost for 3 years usage. is there a problem ?

assuming you buy a $90K car ... use for 10 years.

the lost is also 9,000 per year.

A lot of owner lost more than $30k for 3 years of usage.

Take this Mazda 5 as an example:

http://www.sgcarmart.com/main/info-2AEN6CYJ-1166.html

Selling price: $49.8k (Listed Price), which effectively can sell at about $48K

Buying price: $88k

Lost: about $40k for 3 years of usage which is $$13.3k per year depreciation.

If you buy this car now, assuming you paying $48k + transfer fee will be about $49k.

The scrap value at 10 years is about $13k.

So you are paying about $36K for close to 7 years of usage, which is $5.1k per year depreciation.

If you are the owner of this car, you spent $40k for 3 years of usage, but another $36k will buy you another 7 years of usage, but must change after 3 years? [hur]
