Acuravtec Neutral Newbie July 19, 2008 Share July 19, 2008 I drive a Honda City and this is a break down of my servicing: 1) Havoline Fully Synthetic 4L package with oil filter, the standards checks and top ups: 110 2) Change front and rear Brake Pad (OEM) 70 + 60 3) Change both rear wheel bearing (original Honda) 160 + 160 OEM sold out and would have cost 135 each. 4) Labour for changing bearings and brake pads 40 5) Free Bosch wipers and car wash Are the above cut throat price? This is my 1st time changing break pads as all 4 are worn out plus my rear wheel bearings are damaged. ↡ Advertisement

Acuravtec Neutral Newbie July 21, 2008 Author Share July 21, 2008 You mean brake pad or wheel bearing? Some of my friends change brake pad earlier than 70K. Maybe I brake too much. But I know the bearing should not be down so soon.
Boyboy 1st Gear July 21, 2008 Share July 21, 2008 depends on transmission. for auto car, may not be that early. auto car tends to have less engine braking
Blue2 1st Gear July 21, 2008 Share July 21, 2008 yup..i mean brake pad...I got friend oso change twice in less than 60K lor.... So any way to gauge what is the average life span of a brake pad???

Blue2 1st Gear July 21, 2008 Share July 21, 2008 hmm..so for manual car, wat would be the average life span of the brake pad??
Mzrmazda3 6th Gear July 21, 2008 Share July 21, 2008 Depends on driving pattern lah If you drive 2F2F, like cheong and brake abruptly of course will need to change the brake pads earlier as compared to those whom don't There is no fixed mileage for it Jus like my BIL whom is driving a 1.6 (M) His front brake pad was almost botak at 80,000KM while mine a 1.6 (A) @ 82,000KM is still quite 'Thick'
Blue2 1st Gear July 21, 2008 Share July 21, 2008 hmm...like tat me 1.5(m) more than 90K still not yet change can consider good??? what is the longest life of a brake pad on a manual ride
Boyboy 1st Gear July 21, 2008 Share July 21, 2008 i honestly dunno. but mine with tracking, genting run, numerous cameron highland runs, and HRF driving in SG 60k still seems like a lot of pad left.. when i brake i brake very hard, but i try not to brake as it wastes fuel. i also avoid tailgating
Blue2 1st Gear July 21, 2008 Share July 21, 2008 hmm... dunno how far can a pad lasts???
Boyboy 1st Gear July 21, 2008 Share July 21, 2008 depends on so many factors 1 driving style 2. pad material 3. full load or driver only 4. road conditions.. etc etc.. but i think mine can go up to 90k at very least based on my wear rate. now not so HRF with petrol the way it is. no matter how HRF i go also try to coast to a stop IN GEAR rather than using my brakes. yes i drive manual ↡ Advertisement
