Hi Bro,

Did you solved the above problem?

I got my Omnia phone yesterday. When try connect to GPS, also always getting a " GPS not fixed" massage. How can we get the phone connected to the GPS? Do I need to switch on GPRS which will need addition data cost.

Any Bros can help on this problem?

One of the method is to turn on the advance GPS on ur setting. Once i lock in, i will turn it off. Another metod is like what the bro mention, call up n ask for help.

got an email from the tech support,

Samsung i900 Omnia GPS Settings

Go to Start>Setting>System>GPS (or External GPS)>Program>Set to Com 3

Go to Start>Setting>System>GPS (or External GPS)>Hardware>Set to Com 9, 9600

Start NAVFone PPC. When connecting to GPS, set User Define>Com 3, Baud Rate: 9600.

Note that GPS is only available outdoors. Please let me know if you have further queries.

If you do not wish to wait too long for a valid GPS connection, kindly use the Enhance GPS option. In can be found under Setting>System>Enhance GPS. Kindly enable all the options and tap OK. The next time that GPS is being connected, the GPS data will be downloaded via GPRS. Enhance GPS need not be used all the time, only when reception issues are encountered. Note that normal GPRS charges will be incurred when Enhance GPS is used.

Thanks for all the reply.

Finally manage to get it connect. Take a long 15 mins for 1st time.

Following connection seems to be faster, in less than 5mins.

I finally realise what was the problem. The threaded SMS is the culprit. You see, I have more than 12K SMS and the threaded SMS somehow caused the whole phone to slack like hell. Disabling it solved everything. Now, that's a nice phone [:p]

So bad meh?

Why not you try disabling all the vibration thingy etc .... could improve speed abit.

Depends. Some s/w like the bundled AGIS Nav GPS s/w requires you to install to your external Storage card in order for it to work. Most of the time, you can install it to your internal storage which is 8GB or 16GB.

Oic ... I've tried the phone before ... so I personally find it not bad.

But I got some problems with the contact list ... so I sold it away.

Bro, all you need is the software - SMS Treaker as attached.

Note that you have to install Microsoft .NET CF 3.5 first before you can proceed with the above. (Do a search and download from Microsoft website). Have fun!
